Gyaruru

So here was me hoping that
Nono was going to have a solo career and start it off much like
Koharu, but it would seem that the solo stuff may be put on hold as she's now a member of
Gyaruru.
For those that don't know the group consists of two other members,
Tokito Ami (Amimi) and
Gal Sone Natsuko (Sonene). When I first heard of this I thought this was an extremely odd line up, in fact I still do, but I'm slowly getting used to it...to be honest I'm looking forward to it, with Tokito Ami in the group, this could mean that Nono's PB may get a little bit more breast and bikini shot orientated, which would be good thing as Nono has a great body and with Gal Sone Natsuko, I'm looking forward to the eat off!! We all Nono enjoys the odd cake and pastry, I'm willing to bet at some point we get to see who can eat the most chocolate eclairs in the quickest time!!
As for the style, it's a little extreme, kind of like
Miss Love Tantei but a lot more tanned and much bigger hair! But it's Nono and I'll love her no matter what. I also here she has a new nickname, boes this mean we need to start calling her
Tsujiji from now on?
For those of you that want to see a little bit more of
Amimi she appeared in issue 172 of
Up to Boy, she was spread over 6 pages and was also featured on the pull out poster.

Comment by MorningBerryz on Thursday, 26th April 2007 05:32Heheh I have that issue of Up To Boy and had no idea that she was going to be in a group with Nono. This is great news!! With her solo single coming out I didn't know that she was going to be part of a unit instead. This looks like it's going to be really good!
Comment by bulmasman on Thursday, 26th April 2007 12:30I'm not really a fan of the style of music, but i listened to the Live recording of their single and i have to say it's not as bad as i had expected. I would be happier for Nono to go solo, but i'm still pleased she's active in her career instead of being put on the backburner.
Also, I'm loving Amimi for the simple fact girl in glasses have a soft spot with me :D
Comment by DoubleJ on Thursday, 26th April 2007 18:20Dear God, what have they done to Nono! Not too keen on her new image but I quite like Gyaruru's song. And what can I say about Ami Tokito other than she's hot.
Comment by paul.thomas on Friday, 27th April 2007 00:38I've not heard the song yet...I'm hoping it will be good and that Nono will be the main voice in it.
And as for Nono's new look, I'm still not sure whether I like it or not...I think i preferred the toned down version of the image in Miss Love Tantei, but one thing I have to admit is how much older she looks...out of everything I think it's her hair that will take the longest for me to get used to
Comment by sakuma on Friday, 27th April 2007 02:26It's kind of odd how they just revamped her whole style. Gyaruru isn't H!P is it?
Comment by paul.thomas on Saturday, 28th April 2007 02:09I must admit I was shocked to see her new style, Nono looks completely different and like I said in the previous comment it's the hair that really through me off, it's just so big...but, I don't think it looks bad, just different, it will just take a little getting used to.
And as you say the style isn't particularly H!P, I've just watched the latest episode of Japanorma on BBC3 and it goes into explain the culture behind the Ganguro style and it's quite an interesting watch when you're thinking specifically towards this new unit. The Ganguro style is a 'bad girl style' or to quote Jonathan Ross 'Bad girls living outside society, a reputation they nurture by not washing and shagging men' and this definitely isn't a style that H!P has gone with before. Just think of the trouble girls have got into just by being seen with a guy, Aibon the obvious example, except she may have gone a step further with the stay over in the hotel...but hang on a second....bad girl, living outside (H!P) society, shagging men (OK I'm only guessing that what she did in the stay over at the hotel, they may have just got smashed and fell asleep) and not washing...OK the not washing bit probably won't stick I'd imagine she fairly clean, but you get my drift...if ever there was a member for this group that would fit in perfectly, could it possibly have been Aibon?! It seems odd to me that H!P would go for this angle.
I say odd, but I can see exactly why they are going for this, and it's the same for any business and it's all about money, the episode of Japanorama shows that it is a popular culture and has a wide fan base, just look at the section with the club, completely packed and with both guys and girls...so add the popularity of this scene and now add the fact that you're chucking in a Jpop Idol, a Gravure Idol and a competitive eater (yeah I don't get that one either) and what have you got....you would imagine an extremely popular group in an as yet untapped market by H!P that could possibly reel in a whole new load of fans.
On a side note for those of you that have not heard of the show Japanorama it's a UK TV show about Japanese culture hosted by Jonathon Ross. It's a really good show and gets it's teeth into the Japanese culture like no other program I've seen, I think the main reason for how good it is, is purely down to Jonathon Ross, he is a real fan of Japan and you can tell that from watching the show. Frox over at
http://www.japtard.com has the episodes online, so if you missed them or if you don't pick up BBC3 (which I'd imagine a lot of you won't) you can watch them there.
Comment by DoubleJ on Saturday, 28th April 2007 05:19I didn't even realise that the 3rd series of Japanorama was even on TV so I've missed nearly all of them. Thanks for the link to Japtard's site.
Let's hope Gyaruru is successful if only for Tsuji's sake. She waited patiently for Aibon's return so they could continue with W only for her to blow that opportunity so I really want this new unit to succeed for her.
Get well soon Tsuji as she recovers from a nasty bout of gastroenteritis.
Comment by MorningBerryz on Saturday, 28th April 2007 05:25Paul I believe that you nailed it right on when you say that it's probably to get into a new market. Momusu adding members from China. That's pretty much the way they appear to be going in right now. Only time will tell if it will work although I imagine and hope that it will. The album and singles sales will speak louder than anything.
What I am most looking forward to is seeing how the next Momusu single with Jun Jun and Rin Rin sells. This will answer a lot I think. Tsunku...madman or genius? He's been a genius so far. :)
"Not washing!!??" Eh?!! 変でしょう。
