Cinderella Complex CD and Poster

Wednesday, 30th July 2008 07:50

Having returned from my short break I find myself in a bit of an annoying situation, there's just so much I want to talk about; I've returned home to a number of great items (Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance, Papancake singles and Kohachan's 3rd solo PB), there's also the items that arrived before I left (Kamei's Eri PB along with a couple of other PBs I've mentioned in passing but not got around to writing about, C-ute's version of the Berryz vs C-ute Concert DVD, High King's Cinderella Complex poster and single and a ton of H!P photos) and finally there's all the other exciting H!P things that I just need to get out of my system, C-ute's new single Edo no Temari Uta II and Kanna'a potential scandal.

I'll start what will hopefully be the beginning of a number of posts this week, with the Cinderella Complex single and poster. I did originally mean to post this before I went away on holiday last week, but I just run out of time, fingers crossed I should be OK this week to get quite a few posts up.

On the visual side of things H!P never fail to impress me, there's the occasional slip up but for the most part outfits, hair styles and just the whole general image of the girls in always spot on and High King is a great example of this, just looking at the poster and all the cover sleeves for the single release shows how great the girls look the outfits worn in this release are amazingly good, the only thing I would say is that I think that Yuuka should have been wearing her baseball cap that she wears in the PV in these shots as I think it suits her a lot more and makes her stand out.
The poster has a number of things that grab my attention, first off the big Debut Single on the top right. I've never noticed in the past if one shot units release are promoted as the "Debut Single Release" or not, but to me this suggests that the unit might not be a one single unit? Who debuts and then goes away? Could this mean the potential for another single? I really hope so, even if it is literally one more release, the group has such a unique sound within H!P that it would be a real shame to see it gone after just one release. Secondly, is that a spot/mole on the side of Saki's nose? I've never noticed that before. Lastly regarding the STOP! Illegal Copy! text at the bottom of the poster, although still intrusive on the poster the plus side is that the colours have been changed for it to fit in better with the poster, not ideal but at least it's not as glaringly obvious as it would have been if it used the same colours as the one on C-ute's 3rd ~LOVE Escalation!~ Poster.

The Limited Edition release of this single comes with the Dance Shot Version of the PV and at the moment I can't decide which version of the PV I like more, both the original version and this version have their plus points, but the thing that stands out the most to me in both versions is Reina, she's normally always a stand out member within the PV but here in particular I find she stands out so much more, everything really seems to fit perfectly with her. Her outfit really shows off figure and her legs which I normally find a little too skinny look perfect in that skirt and boots. Her hair style is the best I've in a long while, I'm really loving it straight. But what I really love about Reina in this release is how comfortable and confident she is, this style of music and dance routine really suit her perfectly. When she's looking into the camera and smiling I see a Reina that I haven't seen in Morning Musume, not that she doesn't appear comfortable and confident within Morning Musume, because she does, she just has that something extra within this release, much like Koha in her solo releases there's just that added something shining through.

I think it's a style (both visually and lyrically) that's increadibly suited to Reina (like Memories.)

But I also think that Reina is really coming into her own and propelling herself to the front of the pack.

I think it's the Reina you get to see shine through in other places (PB DVDs, backstage footage, allo-hello dvd) and her talent is becoming ever clearer. On the one hand bold, independent and head strong, on the other an utter scaredycat, traditional(the short discussion about sandals re alo-hello), attentive and caring (see it alot in backstage footage, and she seems to have strong Empathy with newer upfront members - Momoko/JunJun/Yurina re backstage footage from winter helloprogect tour 2007 I think.) And her presence and stagecraft just seems to go up and up with every event.

Where do you get posters from anyway? Not that I can afford anything for the next few months. The stop illegal copy can be fixed with a ruler and a stanly knife though ho ho ho.

I think this is Koharu's best photobook. I finally look the the digital scans of the photobook and one set reminded me of Wonder Girls' "Tell Me" era. I recieve my order of Papancake, TOKYO FRIEND*SHIPS, Kiss!x3 Single V, and Musume's lastest concert. Of course stupid me open my mouth saying my b-day gift is here and my dad told me "oh then you don't need this until Sunday." I was excited too since today was my day off and I won't have another one until Saturday.

I didn't really like the High-King Song at first but now I love it. This dance shot version is really cool and I really like seeing Saki and Maimi execute the dance moves effortly. Not like I already knew that but those two amazing dancers.

Matt_D, this song really suits Reina perfectly, like you say both visually and lyrically. I don't think that there can be any denying that Reina produces some of the best PB releases within H!P and her Alo-Hello DVD is up there as well as one of my favourites, she's so photogenic and just looks amazing in anything that she's wearing. With this release it's the first time I've ever watched a PV and just thought "Whoah! Reina!!!" she totally owns it.
My posters have generally been gotten through Ohta, I also managed to pick up some when I went to the Wonderful Hearts concert in January as well. It''s going to sound odd, but I kinda of like the "stop illegal copy" at the bottom of this poster, I'm mainly liking the fact that it has a the black bar at the bottom more than anything else :S

Strawberrie, Koha's new PB is just amazing she's just stunning in it. Lol, if only you'd of kept quiet, still not to long wait and I'm sure the anticipation will make watching/listening to them all the better!

Djavan, that's one of the best things about the Dance Shot version, Saki and Maimi dances weren't really given that much focus in the original version but with this it's great to watch, they are amazing dancers. I'm actually really impressed with Yukka's dancing in this as well.

Reina can own anything she wants. I honestly think C/C is the best H!P song this year though (and I loved Resonant Blue). I'm waiting for my copy to come but have watched the pv's a load of times already. I think there's a sassyness to the song and pv that really suits Reina. Takahashi looks right at home too, although that's more to do with her dancing finesse than anything else. When it comes to performing routines I don't think anyone comes close to Takahashi.

Really though if you give these girls a great song they can't fail.

Reina did totally rule on that show, she does look great in the outfit it really suits her so well, although her legs are looking really skinny, I'd have to say when it comes to the legs I prefer Aichan's or Maimi's.did you watch the arm wrestling contest? It was great, Aichan and Saki were quite evenly matched, but I think Reina's dismall perfromance was the funniest to watch!

Favourite song this year, that's a really tough choice to make, C/C is definetly up there, but this year has seen so many great H!P songs, I'd have to say C-ute or Berryz latest singles are fighting it out for my fave at the moment. I'm really looking forward to Morning Musume's next single, my fingers crossed that with the amount of great singles being released lately tehy'll be getting kock out one as well.
