Kindai Oct 2008
Saturday, 6th September 2008 20:10
So whilst
H!P seem to be struggling to get into the pages of
UTB (well at least the colour pages) let along the cover,
Kindai remains a magazine where such thing doesn't seem to be a problem, looking through the back issues page shows us that this year alone there have been 4 (including this issue) issues where a H!P unit has featured on the cover and the pages are always crammed with (colour) H!P goodness.
I don't know if this has happened with any of the previous issue (I'm feeling too lazy at the moment to go and check, lol) but not only do
Buono! feature on the cover but they also feature on the back cover (which I've just noticed I've left the price on in the scan so you can see the extortionate amount of money I paid for it) with a full page advert for their latest single,
Gachinko de Ikou!. Inside features a great line up, 5 pages of Buono!, 2 pages showing us the song line up for the
Hello!Project 2008 Summer Wonderful Hearts Tour, 3 pages of
Ongaku Gatas, 2 pages of
Manoeri and 3 pages of
Cutie House 2nd Edition, so including both the covers that's a total of a whopping 18 pages!
Although Buono! feature on the cover, they don't appear in the magazine until after the huge
Johnny's Live and Stage 2008 Summer section, which makes this issue even more of a buy if you're a fan of both H!P and Johnny's Entertainment artists. Buono's article is a promotion for their recent single release, we're treated to some great full page solo shots and a collection of making of style photos of the single cover photo shoot and PV. Much like with the PV my usual favourite of the group
Momo is over shadowed by the cuteness that is
Airi, with my favourite photo being the one where Airi has her arms around
Miyabi whilst she's playing the drums. The mix of outfits worn in this release has me still debating in my head which is best...short skirts/hot pants and long socks or suits?
The two page spread showing us the song list of the Wonderful Hearts 2008 Summer tour is such a great way of wetting our appetites, the little preview images showing us the costumes worn for selected performances is just so good and it's got me dying to see the concert, the only disappointment?...That
Berryz don't perfom
Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance in their monkey outfits :(
The performance that I'm really looking forward to seeing is that of
Manoeri's
Manopiano, after seeing the great clip uploaded awhile ago (
Manopiano Live) I can't wait to see a high quality version of this and I'm still curious as to how it all fits into the whole concert and if there will be a troop of
Eggs dancing around the keyboard.
"Yes officer, the girl that beat the crap out of me was dressed in a short leather skirt, bright orange leather jacket, leather studded gloves and cow boy boots..." thankfully with the release of
Come Together that description wouldn't pull in some sort of crazy hairy biker woman but the welcome surprise of a full police line up, which would look something like the photoshoot in this issue of Kindai, well except possibly with less smiles. I find it quite surprising how such a powerfully strong bright orange isn't overpowering in these shots, but instead really looks good.
In my previous post I made a comment, "Is it me or does Manoeri just get cuter cuter each time you see her?", and this shoot again goes on to prove my point, but I wonder can she top this? It looks like Manoeri has raided
Nono's closet and grabbed her
Curious Nono jean short dungaree combo outfit. The scary thing is that although I love Nono in this outfit and have always thought it's probably the best outfit she's worn, I have to say the Manoeri looks better in it, just look at the shot of her resting against the rail...
Lastly, we have what has to be the best
Cutie House ever,
Nakki and
Erike!! And as an excuse to stare at Erika for that little bit longer I decided to attempt to read what was written on her shirt "cant help but talking a liking to you. I wonder if you can understand how i feel about you?"...so close, if only they would run them by a proof reader every now and then!

Where did you get this issue of Kindai Magzine from?
Comment by nnathann on Monday, 8th September 2008 00:59WHAT!!!!!!! lol its nine quid, actually come to think of it i spend near to 50 on books but because I was too exicted i never bothered wondering about the price. By looking at the price in yen i think its about 4 quid and even though there is the shipping price japan centre must be making a lot of money. On another note really great review on Kindai, I always enjoy reading your reviews.
Comment by paul.thomas on Monday, 8th September 2008 10:09Hi, Ray thanks! The issue of Kindai was bought from the Japan Centre in London, it's where I get the majority of my magazines from.
nnathann, yeah at £9.90 the price is quite steep, but with the average price of English magazines that I buy being something like £5.99-£6.99 it's only a few pound more and to be honest it's worth that extra few quid to get me H!P fix, lol. Yeah I imagine that the Japan Centre make a fortune off of the magazines, I inquired about ordering PBs through them instead of ordering them through the stores online as I thought it would be easier for me to collect them from there, but the prices are amazingly high for them, a single PB came in it about £30! Did you get any magazines when you was in there?
Glad you enjoyed the write up!
Comment by Rick on Tuesday, 9th September 2008 03:35anyone else notice the Buono! page? The one where they're in the suites? Momo and Miyabi traded ties at some point.
Comment by nnathann on Tuesday, 9th September 2008 12:56I was going to but i didn't have enough money, and if i did i know I would of went over board lol but i will next time.
Comment by paul.thomas on Tuesday, 9th September 2008 23:18Rick, wow good spot I totally missed that! Wonder when that happened, only seems to be in the individual shots so perhaps they put them on by mistake for the photos lol, what a great excuse to rewatch the PV and see if they suddenly change in the middle of it.
nnathann, yeah I know what you mean, when you start it's hard to stop especially if they have a ton of new mags in stock, they randomly get in odd idol mags as well so if I walk in and they have them in stock I normally grab one of them, it all eats into your cash.
Comment by Rad on Friday, 12th September 2008 06:00I wonder how many photo sessions these singers attend. Judging from the copious photo collections, photobooks, etc., they must be either singing or posing for photos pretty much every waking moment. Incidentally, I broke down and actually ordered my first-ever photobook two days ago. Curiosity always ends up winning out, it seems.
Comment by MorningBerryz on Sunday, 14th September 2008 03:33Awesome cover!! I think I'm now totally convinced that I should subscribe to Kindai magazine. So much H!P in every issue and they always seem to cover Arashi or Tackey & Tsubasa so I think it's a must have! ^-^
Comment by paul.thomas on Monday, 15th September 2008 22:18Rad, that's something I've always wondered there's just so much material; photos, books, CDs, PVs, show appearances...the girls must be so busy all of the time, it must be a very hectic lifestyle, but one they must love, it looks like they have great fun.
You've ordered your first PB release!! You're going to love it, PB releases are so great and the photos always make the girls look amazing, whose did you go with?
MorningBerryz, yeah Kindai really is your kind of magazine, it' always filled with H!P but as you say they always cover the Johnny groups as well so you have that added bonus as well.
Comment by Rick on Saturday, 20th September 2008 02:10I wanted to thank you for posting this. Had to go into town today(Seattle) and after my checkup went to a Japanise book store I recently found. I got the last copy. Someone had it hid behind some other books. The book had a bit on another singer(non hip)that I like Asuka Hinoi as a solo and with Hinoi Team. now if only they could stock hip music and photo books.
Comment by paul.thomas on Monday, 22nd September 2008 01:04Rick, looks like youhad to hunt find that copy, Kindai is such a great a magazine for fans of JPop music as there is always a lot of pages dedicated to it. I've heard of Hinoi Team before but I've never heard anything they've done, as soon as my internet connection is sorted (or I get a quiet minute in work) I'll pop onto YouTube and have a listen of some of their stuff.
