Lucky Aura CD
Sunday, 2nd November 2008 23:19
I've been sitting on quite a few posts the past week and a bit, with the site moving servers and making a proper start on the next poll (going for all H!P members (excluding the Eggs that aren't currently active in any units)...does anyone know if the Elder Club members have specific colour shirts like the Wonderful Hearts members?) things have been going a little slower than I would have liked, so I'm going to try and attempt to get a post up each night this week in a attempt to catch up. Starting with
Manoeri's 2nd Indie single
Lucky Aura...
The first thing I noticed with the this single was how similar the shots on the packaging are to the previous single
Maonpiano, apart from the change in outfit there's not really that much of a difference. This however isn't a complaint, as I love Manoeri's look and as that saying goes "if it's not broke why fix it?" and with this being only her 2nd single release I'm guessing it'll take sometime before her looks and outfits vary to the amount that the other members of H!P do with their releases.

Unlike the sleeve the song is really different to her previous single, in fact this is more like the release I was originally expecting as it's more livelier and more suited to what I thought she'd be releasing. It opens with a very similar sound to the previous release with Mano's voice accompanied by a piano (as there's been no mention that I'm aware of about Mano playing the piano in this release I can only presume that she doesn't?) but as we get into it things start to speed up and it takes on a whole new form, I can't help but feel that this would have sounded better if the music was cranked up to extremes, it has a (kind of) techno sound to it and if that was pushed then I think it would have been a release that would have really stood out.... OK I'm going to have to go way off topic here and admit something, after I typed in 'techno' the only thing I could think of was 2 Unlimited's No Limit, admittedly it's not techno but they do say it an awful lot in the song itself and so to try and clear my conscience (it's certainly not going to convince anyone that I had decent musical taste that's for sure) I'd like to share my path of thought that Manori's single has just taken me on, I'll link all the songs up to their YouTube videos (...oh dear, sorry!), a journey into my teens except minus all the Indie/Brit Pop :S
2 Unlimited - No Limit ->
2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This ->
2 Unlimited - Twilight Zome ->
The Outhere Brothers - Boom Boom Boom ->
The Outhere Brothers - Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle) ->
Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe ->
Scatman John - The Scatman (apparently he's the Professor of Scat! :S) ->
Mr.President - Coco Jambo ->
Sin With Sebastian - Shut Up (And Sleep With Me) ->
Culture Beat - Mr Vain ->
Haddaway - What Is Love? ->
Dr Alban - It's My Life ->
Snow - Informer (quite possibly the only redeeming song).
Sorry about that, words can be dangerous things! Let's get back on track.
Although I think the song is more suited to Manoeri and more along the lines of what I had originally thought would have been released, I'm finding that it's not a Manopiano beater, there's something about her first single that makes it better with each listen.
I'm a little confused with the whole Manoeri promotion at the moment, with what seems to me to be a complete lack of promotion of this single outside of the live performances, which obviously the vast majority of us won't get to hear/watch until they either become available
:::Dohhh Up!::: or it's featured on a DVD concert. With the single having been out for nearly a month now, it seems very strange that the only promotional clips that are being uploaded are for Manopiano. As I said earlier I'm unclear as to whether Manoeri does both the singing and piano playing in this release and if she isn't perhaps this is why it's not getting pushed as much as the performance aspect of her first single is such a unique aspect to a H!P release and I presume that UFA want to capitalise on it?

Comment by nya on Monday, 3rd November 2008 02:18I remember most of those songs! XD
I really like the tune for the song. I don't usually like instrumentals, but I could listen to this one on repeat.
Comment by paul.thomas on Monday, 3rd November 2008 10:23Nya, I can only apologise for making you remember them ;p but I just couldn't help it the only thing I had in my head was "Techno! Techno! Techno! Techno!"..damn you 2 Unlimited!
Manoeri's instrumentals on both of her singles are great, usually when I copy a single release onto my iTunes I always leave off the instrumentals, but with these releases they get copied over as well, they sound great!
Comment by Matt_D on Monday, 10th November 2008 19:40She does the piano and singing live on her new single, saw her twice on the concerts on the 2nd, she's darn cute. Sadly she wasn't there on the 3rd (when they recoreded the concert for DVD) so unless they use footage of her when they didn't have the proper cameras...
Note the Scatman did the voice for the hyper active robot in the transformers movie.
Comment by paul.thomas on Tuesday, 11th November 2008 10:31So pleased to hear that she's playing the piano in this release as well I had a look around but I just couldn't find any reference to it at all and with no apparent preview performance clips being uploaded onto :::Dohhh Up!::: I just presumed that she wasn't playing. How were the concerts? Lol silly question, I already know the answer how can a H!P concert be anything less than amazing!
Comment by Matt_D on Tuesday, 11th November 2008 11:39Well, the stage list was fantastic and fast paced with a good mix of classics and new songs.
We had pretty lousy 2nd floor tickets for the first two days, but the 2nd floor fans are loud so that makes up for it. For the last MM show we were going too we had the worst tickets in the world for the first concert but I bought an upgrade at harajuku 1st floor 17th row, that was epic, I was next to a Northern European guy who had 2nd(3rd) row seats for the concerts that got recoreded, he'd been to all the concerts this season and apparently 1st floor/17th row were the worst seats he had T_T my envy knows no bounds. That day I went through 26 ultra blue glowsticks... what a day.
Berryz was also epic, went to the last concert in the tour and for the last song every one let rip with white glow sticks.
Next time I'm not gonna bother getting tickets for the shows before hand just buy them in ticket exchanges. Better tickets for less money.

Comment by paul.thomas on Wednesday, 12th November 2008 12:40I don't know if I could handle not having a ticket before I go out there, I'd be in such a panic until I got tickets, I wouldn't be able to relax. Where abouts did you get your tickets from? When I was out there the only place I found that was selling tickets was a shop in Harajuku, Gorakudoh, but the prices were quite high certainly a lot more than what the tickets I got through Ohta, but then they were amazing seats...I think I may grab some tickets from Ohta but also have a look around when I get out there with the intention of going to another performance with some better seats, at least that way I know that I'm definitely going, I don't think I could handle the chance (however unlikely it is, lol) that I'd get out there and wouldn't be able to get a ticket.
26 glowsticks!! I dread to think what I would have looked like if that was me, I only had 2 and by the end of the concert my hands were glowing red as I'd some how managed to crack both of the sticks.
Lol, good old Koha I remember reading over on Hello-Online a comment Sayu made about Koha's dancing and always getting it wrong, but that's why I love her, so crazy! So Manoeri was good? I'd love to be able to see her perform live.
Sounds like you had a great time out there!

I'm sure this girl is like crack, forever waiting for where she'll next spring up with her peculiar randomness - it may even be the best thing about yorosen.
Comment by paul.thomas on Saturday, 22nd November 2008 21:41I'm still waiting for Dohhh Up to upload a live performance of her this single, I really don't understand why one hasn't been uploaded yet... although I have to admit to having only watched one of the recent Mano clips, so I guess it could have a performance on there somewhere, but I doubt it, the one clip I did watched had yet another performance of Manopiano.
Comment by tortillaranger on Wednesday, 29th April 2009 12:37I love this song, where can I buy the single? I've been all over the net seeking it.
