It's makes me feel sad that London is such a bland, grey, drab and unrecognisable place. It makes me feel sad that tourists all come to Leicester Square and marvel at what is essentially a crap Coke commercial, so it's been in a film or two (at the moment I can only think of American Werewolf in London...amazing film, much better than the crappy and unnecessary sequel in Paris) have they seen the screens at Time Square? Still fairly crappy but they kick arse over what we have to offer. Hell, have they wandered around Tokyo? There's much more impressive advertising screens round there, really impressive ones, ones that make your jaw drop and the only thing that come out of you mouth is "wooooooooow".
It makes me sad to be reminded of all of this from a Buono! PV. Walking through an artists impression of London the only colours we see are the red of the phone boxes (of which there are extremely few of now days), the soldiers uniforms and the double decker bus (if you look closely you can probably see me slumped up against the window asleep...I love sleeping on public transport so relaxing). We also get treated to the wonderful blue sky, lol I haven't seen one of those over London in what feels like ages. But still it was cool seeing Buono! walking around London inspired scenery, it did actually put a big fat smile on my face. How can anywhere look dull with Buono! walking through it!?

With the Lotta Love, Lotta Love PV steering away from the usual Buono! charm (although it's grown on me so much since I posted about it) it's good to see that it wasn't a permanent shift in direction. Although it could be said that this is indeed another low budget video, with the whole filmed on a blue screen and locations put in afterwards, it does have a charm that only Momo, Miyabi and Airi can pull off. Well....I say that, perhaps W pulled it off better? Aa Ii na! anybody?
The humour is back into their PV and there's more than just you standard Dance Shot/Close Up affair, we're treated to a number of outfits. The usual Buono! outfits for the girls, socks, short skirts and shorts, which are used when dancing and strolling through London. I'm guessing that it's probably a good choice, when I think London and then fashion two things come to my mind, Punks which was 20 years ago and moving to the present, Vice magazine wannabes...and no one wants to look like that!
There's also a really cute outfit as the girls dress up as Inuits (always wanted to use that in a blog post, I literally never thought I'd get a chance!) and this section of the PV has some really cute cold type expressions, I think the hoods they wear really add to the overall cute image here.
There's also some unflattering but highly amusing Safari outftis, they just look so geeky! And whilst we're talking about highly amusing and unflattering, there's the outfits that I can only describe as American Farmers? I was going to call it the Redneck outfit, but I they all still have their teeth and I see no banjo. But again as unflattering as they are the walk in this section has to be my favourite, it kind of reminds me of an extremely cute variation on how the The Bushwhackers used wander around the WWF ring (just incase you have no idea what I'm talking about, click here).
And lastly we have the beach outfits, I'm not exactly sure where they're meant to be in this section, my first guess was Hawaii but then those stone heads fell down, so could it be Easter Island?? Or are they Tiki Gods??...In which case it'll be Hawaii.

I think I've rambled too much! The song is the usual high standard of Buono!, they've yet to release a bad or average song and by the way things are going, it doesn't look like they ever will, these girls seriously rock!

Bushwhackers, that brings back some memories. You forgot to mention that Miyabi is up against her old nemisis again. Milk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQZt3EV0Wbo it's at the end.

Poor Miya. xD Marippe was made to drink milk in Mini Moni videos loads too. >w<
i get how milk is supposedly healthy but why force them to drink it. can't Airi have milk, Miyabi have a healthy juice and momo eat an apple?

Paul, I really like this song a lot; it has an up tempo rock beat and yet it is still melodic at the same time. These girls have such a nice sound; I don’t want to say it’s smoothing exactly but I do feel comforted after listening to it. I’ve enjoyed all of Buono!’s singles and this new release is just as wonderful. In a word, beautiful.

I like the concept for the PV, I really do, but I thought the execution could have been a little fuller. Part of the problem when using green screens is it’s hard to act when you can’t see what’s going to happen. It felt like the girls were detached and somewhat isolated. They didn’t interact with the environment or with each other and it felt like the girls were each in a separate world even those they were walking side by side. I thought the CGI had a good style for the PV and the video had some crazy stuff going on in the back ground but I think it needed to be wackier and more engaging.

For example, in the London clip the girls could have been chased by the double decker bus or perhaps played around with the Royal Guard trying to make him laugh. Momoko could have been run over by the bus or locked up in London Tower and Airi and Miyabi would have to save her. Maybe during the farm clip they could have gone cow tipping (pushing over a sleeping cow) and then have to run away from an angry farmer and cow. For the ocean scene the girls could have gone fishing and where Airi and Miyabi would catch fish Momoko would have caught a boot. I think my ideas would have made this video a little more fun to watch.

All in all this is a great song with a good PV. I think Buono! once again has shown itself to be one of the best acts in H!P right now. This is a great way to start the New Year.

A little off point but I think H!P should send Momoko to a doctor about her pinky fingers. The scene with the binoculars is funny looking. Can she not bend her pinkies at all?

Rick, lol I know doesn't it, as soon I started writing the post I thought Bushwackers and spent the next 10 mins watching a clip of them vs Money Inc, reminded me of how I spent my Saturday afternoons as a kid, some WWF followed by an episode of Monkey! Haha, I hadn't seen Miyabi's reaction to drinking milk, that's so funnny! But I can totally relate to it, I hate drinking milk, if it's not poured over cereal or in a milk shake I won't go near it.

Hexi, I'm guessing they do to all look the same, it does look really cool having them drinking the same drink at the same time...plus I'm guessing it'll make for some using clips in the making of.

Innovera, I think the PV could have certainly have been done better, just taking a look at W's similar looking PV you can see how much fun they could of had with this concept. I found the whole walking towards to the camera thing kinda cute especially because at times the speed of the walk no way matched up with the speed the background was going, it adds a certain charm to the PV. But yeah doing something a little extra with the PV like you describe would have really added to it.
I've never really noticed Momo's pinky fingers before, I'll have to have a look in the PV, what's wrong with them...they can't bend?? Hmmmm....

commentComment by Hexi on Tuesday, 13th January 2009 18:30
haha! no, they just stick out no matter what she does. when she sings or anything, they have a mind of their own. >w< she can bend them but they seem to stick out anyways. they just exaggerate it and have made her pinkies a "thing" about her. like aibon and the hair dango and Sayu's usa-chan peace.

Innovera: Somehow i don't think the people of japan would be too happy with a sudden outbreak of cow tipping among small children. and is being run over by a double decker bus a really good idea to show in a PV for a group aimed at children? i think we'd end up with alot of japanese kids having a phobia of double decker buses.

Aah ~ I'm not the only one that thought about Aa Iina ! =)
The Pv is great ~ And the song too, not as catchy as the other but after a few listen, I love it ! The dance look fun too ! Hopefully, there will be a dance shot this time ><

Try tipping a Milton Keynes cow.

Momo never bends her finger when she's holding something, never thought it was anything other then her being ladylike, I'll have to scan through her photos, and if it were anything more then she's probably already been seen about it and it's just a minor disability, it's not the kind of thing you wouldn't notice lol. But yeah she holds it out whenever she has a mike or a drink or what not. Since forever, pretty sure even on High Score.

To be honest though I havn't made it to the end of this PV yet and I've started watching it a few times.

Well I actually wasn’t really thinking of anyone getting hit by the bus but I did write that didn’t I. So, is a bus hitting Momoko inappropriate for small children? Hmmm, possibly, but honestly I don’t think it would be a problem so long as there wasn’t blood, her head didn’t go flying off, or she actually getting killed. My line of thinking is that she’s hit by bus, a few stars circle around her head, and Yes! she’s okay now. If the CGI wasn’t so cartoony then, yeah, that could be a problem too but I don’t think kids have a problem distinguishing between real life and what is obviously fake.

A mass crime wave of cow tipping in Japan would be pretty funny. I would feel sorry for the prankster teens with dreams of grand fun ahead. It’s really not all that exciting of an activity and not to mention pretty hard to do. A 70 kg person pushing a 275 kg cow isn’t easy. They would be better off buying a case of beer and star gazing then messing with cows. Plus I think Japan imports 50-60% of the beef it consumes so there aren’t massive herds roaming around to begin with. Most Japanese probably wouldn’t no where to find one. I think the cows would be okay.

But in an effort to not encourage cruelty to animals lets think of another activity the girls could do on the farm. Hmmm, okay this maybe a little abstract but; the girls go into a hen house to gather “Eggs”. When Airi and Miyabi pick up an egg it hatches into a cute fluffy baby chick. A few close ups of Airi and Miyabi holding their chick up and smiling. Awe it’s a very cute and sweet scene. However when Momoko picks up an egg it still hatches into a baby chick but it starts pecking her in the head. Awe, poor Momoko as Airi and Miyabi comfort her. See, so instead of people abusing animals its animals abusing people. The worst outcome would be children afraid of baby chickens.

You have some sort of thing against her huh? xD
hitting her with a bus, getting attacked by her baby chick. can we have something like her egg just hatching into an alligator or something? >w< or an omlette
lol

commentComment by Innovera on Thursday, 15th January 2009 22:54
I like your idea of a different animal hatching from Momoko’s egg. That would be hilarious.

Do I hate Momoko? Maybe I secretly like Momoko and I’m teasing her to masquerade my true feelings. The same way little boys on the school play ground would pull the pig tails of the girl they like. Besides, Momoko can take a hit from a CGI bus. That girl is a firecracker of energy.

haha. like she gets the ugly duckling?

i see so you have a crush on her and are hitting her with a bus to hide it? >w<

If you think London is drab, dry the desolate Central Valley of California USA. The landscape is as depressing as the economy. Yes, Japan is anotehr planet, especially Tokyo, as portrayed in the Puffy AmiYumi song, "Planet Tokyo." That is why I'm going next week, even though my company is furloughing hours. If I don't go now, I'll never be able. There is something very special about Japan and the model society there.

Lol, I didn't actually think that people tipped cows I'd of thought the cow might of tried to stop it...but then I've never seen an angry cow, so maybe not :S Lol, who doesn't have a crush on Momo she just so cute...ina slightly odd and hyper way, lol.

Rad, ah I'm so jealous I remember you saying awhile ago that you was heading out there, did you manage to get tickets for concerts? I've been trying to arrange my trip out to Japan, at one point had it all sorted, with the intention of seeing a C-ute and Morning Musume concert, but then I relaised that my mum's 60th burthday fell bang in the middle of them...I'm half tempted to say that I've got it all booked and there's nothing I can do about it, but I get the feeling I'd feel out of order if I did that. Oh well, enjoy yourself when you're out there!!...Lol, I know you will

@Paul: Yes, it is ridiculous to go to Japan in the midst of the worst global recession in living memory, but then life is short, isn't it? I'll be reporting on my Vox blog while I'm there. Tentative plans are already posted, including a theatrical side-trip to see Aibon acting in a play in Ginza..

As for the new Buono! single, I find it almost ... dreamy, a departure from the hard rock of the earlier singles. I note, sadly, that it is not on the Wonderful Hearts setlist for Chukyo on Jan. 25, so I'll miss it there, but maybe Tsunku will throw it in during the Elder Club graduation bash at Yokohama Arena on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
