LA Here I Come
Thursday, 4th June 2009 15:29
After months of indecision, for those that know me that won't come as any surprise, I've finally booked my tickets to LA this morning and have literally just grabbed my tickets to the Expo.
So with the disappointment of the Swedish Expo now in the past it's time to set my eyes on LA and catching
Morning Musume performing their first concert in the states (well ignoring Hawaii of course).
I have to admit that I'm really excited about this, there's the obvious reasons of seeing Morning Musume perform, but there's more to it than just that. There's the whole unknown factor that's got me excited. I have to say that I'm not really one for planning things out, is that good or bad? I'm not entirely sure, it's never really failed me in the past so I can't imagine it failing it now. So my plan so far? Well get to the airport, quick flight to Amsterdam chill for an hour or two and then off to LA. Arrive, some how meet up with
jyoru who I'll be staying in a hotel with (yes you guessed it, I have no idea what hotel or where) and then well, do the sites and drink I guess...oh and of course attend the Expo and see Morning Musume!!
It's nice to think, much like I thought when Buono! were going to play, that it's going to be a good laugh catching the performance with other H!P fans that speak English, it'll be good to be in a crowd knowing exactly what's being shouted.
I'm also really looking forward to the
Hello!Party that's been organised by Hello!Ranking, it'll be a fun way to geek out for a night. Although I'm sure I'll be staying away from the karaoke and dancing and concentrating more on the drinking...there will be drinking right?...And we so need to come up with H!P drinking game!!
I'm heading out on the 29th and back on the 6th, so if you're going I'll see you there hopefully!

Comment by Blue Sweater on Thursday, 4th June 2009 15:46That's really awesome! I'm sure you will really have a great time there and enjoy the thrill and rush that comes with watching your favourite act live:)
Any song you want to see them play in particular?
Comment by Matt_D on Thursday, 4th June 2009 16:13Geek out, beer out, ooo yeah - it'll be playtime for days and days.
Comment by Chris (CK) on Thursday, 4th June 2009 16:35I don't think there will bew alcohol at the party. That's OK, Tom. We will find a nice bar to knock back a few in.
Comment by Mozenator on Thursday, 4th June 2009 16:35Can't wait to meet you! E-mail me and let me know if you're stopping in NYC. I'm booking my flight later today and I'm leaving on the 29th as well and coming back the 6th. Maybe I could coordiante my trip with yours? I don't know if you have a stop in NYC,,,,well worth a try. I hate flying and it would be great to be with a fellow H!P-er!
Comment by Matt_D on Thursday, 4th June 2009 16:48yeah bars gonna be essential, lets all embark upon a crusade of awsome level epicness.
Comment by Nao on Thursday, 4th June 2009 17:08I've had a quick look at the hello!party website, no, there will be no booze at the party itself, but the Hotel has two bars you can go to.
I wish I could go, but money is tight, hope you have fun over there.
Comment by Kimberly on Thursday, 4th June 2009 17:52OMG! Yea! I'll be seeing you there then, I assume you still want to meet me. lol
Comment by Liz on Thursday, 4th June 2009 18:15I want to go, but I see them enough in Japan. This event would really be about meeting other international fans, being at a concert without the fucking annoying wota who won't shut up and let you enjoy the concert, and being at a concert with some females for a change so I don't get stared at for having a vag.
I expect a full beautiful report!
Comment by momo on Thursday, 4th June 2009 18:30Wish I was able to go there, too bad I booked my Florida vacation during this time though. But yes have a good time and tell us all about it.
Comment by Bryan on Thursday, 4th June 2009 22:39Does that mean you'll be able to come to Hello! Party? ;)
Comment by Bryan on Thursday, 4th June 2009 22:39Whoops! Try reading the post Bryan. XD Can't wait to meet you Paul!

Comment by Rick on Friday, 5th June 2009 02:06Am so glad you decided to come. I look forward to meeting you. We're gonna be having a blast all weekend.
Comment by Hapichan on Friday, 5th June 2009 02:34:D YAY! I'm so excited you're coming to LA. I'm also looking forward to meeting you!!
Happy!Pro is gonna end up performing @ Hello!Party :D I hope that you'll come say hi to us! Hah, and you should totally go for the karaoke! Why not? :D We're all fans after all.
Comment by Pixie on Friday, 5th June 2009 07:18Glad you're coming to see MM as well! Sucks I can't come to the Hello!Party, though... :/
BTW, Anime Expo finally posted the schedule (at least, for the main events) and the Concert will be FRIDAY, JULY 3. Everything else is posted up. :)
Comment by Gee on Friday, 5th June 2009 07:40Awsome!
I suggest "Guess the song". You hear a 5-second snippit of a song and you have to guess what it is. If you don't get it, you take a drink! Haha~
Also, please take a look at my blog! I'm still getting the hang of it.
I hope you all have a wonderful time, and I wish I could be there to meet you all, but I'm sgtuck in Australia haha.
Comment by paul.thomas on Friday, 5th June 2009 13:56Hahaha, well my organisational skills are as spot on as ever, as I'm turning up a day before anyone else I've spoken to is going out there :S So if anyone is out there on the 29th and feels like meeting up in the evening give me a shout, otherwise it looks like I'll be touring the bars by myself :S
Hexi, lol that's a tough one...I'd be on the floor drunk within minutes, I'm useless at remembering orders and song names...mainly because over half the songs on my ipod are in japanese and I can't read them.
Yep I'll do my best to get some pics, I'm kinda hoping that the Expo will have a wifi connection and I hook my phone up to it, that way I'll be bloggin throughtout the days I'm there on ptom.co.uk uploading pics as and when I take them. I'll be sure to say hi to both Sayu and Mittsi from you when I see them ;p.....if only lol
Blue Sweater, I'm actually really excitied to hear them sing 3,2,1 BREAKIN'OUT, I'm guessing it's going to get a great reaction from everbody what with being the official theme and the OPV competition....and with it just being a great song in general!
Matt_D, yea it's going to be a different week for me that's for sure, totally embracing the geek in me...not that I don't usually but even more so lol. Plus haven't had a good proper drink since my bday, althoguh hopefully I won't be in the same state I was in on that day.
Chris, yeah by the sounds of it you're right, but still you can have fun without the drink right? Should be an interesting meet. Look forward to knocking up a couple back with you!
Mozenator, I'll try and send you an email this evening, although I don't think I'll be heading out to NYC, haven't really got the cash for it at the moment. But I'll catch you in LA for sure. Yea let me know, if you're around in the evening of the 29th that would be cool as otherwise I'm on my ownsome lol. Not to bad with flying I've done it so many times now it just puts me to sleep, but normally I'm always with someone so this is going to be different...the only other time I flew by myself I made friends with some OAPs who were stopping over at the same interchanging airport :S...lol, would be better this time if it was a bunch of H!P fans instead.
Nao, Ah the hotel bar, they could quite possibly be my friends! Thanks for checking!
Kimberley, I'll send you a mail tonight. But yea def up for a meet if you're around.
Liz, lol I'm sure we'll be shouting and screaming enough to give the Japanese Wota a run for their money ;p I'm really interested to see what the turn out of the concert will be like, if my poll results are anything to go by the girls will just be outnumbering the guys, so it should be a really different atmosphere than the concerts in Japan, should be fun.
momo, ah that sucks, althoguh I'm sure youll be enjoying Florida. would have been cool to meet up!
Bryan, haha yep i'll be coming to the Hello! Party, see you there! I'm guessing you're helping organise it all? Amazing thing you guys over at Hello!Ranker are doing, thanks, should be awesome!
jun, fingers crossed if all goes well they could be performing again at another time? What a reason to start saving, fingers crossed!
Rick, going to be amazing! Hmmm, need to think of a way of actually figuring out who everyone is I'm sure with random meets we'll end up missing each other...I guess that's what the Hello! Party is for :)
Hapican, cool you guys are performing at Hello!Party, can't wait to see you perfom! And yea of course I'll come say hi! Why not karaoke?...lol I want to try and at least try and make some freinds, I don't feel like totally clearing out the party with my awful singing and having everyone angry at me ;p
Pixie, I was reading that when I was getting my tickets for their performance, going to be an exciting day! Suck about not being able to attend the party though, but still know doubt will all have an amazing time at the Expo.
Gee, I'll make sure to check it out a little later, I'll add to my blog list as well. Not a bad idea, whip out the ipods and have a quick blast, guess it or drink :)
It's not so bad being stuck in Austalia, awesome weather out there, certainly beats being stuck in the UK!
Comment by PlusQ on Friday, 5th June 2009 23:03The Hello!Party should be all kinds of fun. Good to see you're going.
I'll probably need a drink after trying to hand out H!O shirts all day and standing in numerous lines waiting the waiting game. Oi! And I don't even drink! :D
Comment by Matt_D on Saturday, 6th June 2009 02:15@PlusQ
If you want a hand handing stuff out give us a shout - aint' got nothing better to do then spread the love.
Comment by PlusQ on Saturday, 6th June 2009 03:28Aww thanks Matt_D! I've got no clue how we're going to go about handing the shirts out to people I've never met, have no clue what they look like, in a place I've never been to before. So all the help I can get is probably a plus! :D
My comfort zone is probably going to shot to hell by the end of the Anime Expo.
Comment by Mozenator on Saturday, 6th June 2009 10:05I just hought you might have a stopover in NYC. You have to stop somewhere don't you? lol. Yeah, please e-mail me, I'm staying with a fimmaker friend of mine. I'll give you my phone # too...it's gonna be a blast!
Comment by Fungies22 on Saturday, 6th June 2009 16:35Oh boy! I've been reading your blogs everyday so for you to be coming to LA to watch Morning musume with fellow fans, well, dats even more awesome :) Hope to see ya there! Did you already ticktes to there concert?
Comment by CDv on Sunday, 7th June 2009 12:39That's great that you're going to LA! This is my first time commenting but I really enjoy reading your blog and would love to meet you. Unfortunately I'm only 20 so I'm underage in LA, so won't be able to drink with you guys (which sucks immensely after being able to for 2 years in the UK). I'll try to smuggle some spirits in my suitcase but those will have to be consumed in secret >_< I arrive on the 29th around 7pm, and will be staying near the airport overnight, so depending on where you are on the 29th, we could maybe hang out?
btw I live in Goodmayes, a 7 minute bus ride from Barking, so even if for some reason we don't see eachother in LA, it should be easy to meet up in the UK. I'm always interested in meeting new H!P fans...although tbh I've only met a handful in real life :)
Comment by paul.thomas on Sunday, 7th June 2009 15:03Lol @PlusQ yea it's really going to be an interesting trip with regards to the whole comfort zone type thing. Still that's all part of the excitement right?
Mozenator, I think the original flight I was looking at was stopping over in New York on the way there, but I changed it went with a flight leaving from City Airport (really close to home) and with that I'm stopping off in Amsterdam for a few hours going and France on the way back. Yea, need to dish out the old phone number otherwise I get the feeling it'll be totally awkward meeting up with everyone.
Fungies22, yea I got the tickets for the concert a little while after I got my Expo tickets also got a ticket for the AX Idol as well, although I'm not going to be sing.
CDv, lol that really sucks about the drinking age in the states, lol get yourself a coke bottle and fill up with your fave drink! Just remember it's not coke though, that's what killed me on my birthday, filled it up with whiskey drank on the train and when i got off totally forgot about how much I'd already drunk and just carried on drinking :S
Well I'm arriving about 3ish on the 29th and at the mo was pretty much thinking the same as you grab a hotel near the airport and meet up with jyoru when he arrives seemed like the easiest of ideas. So yea I'm up for hanging out, I'll be the guy slumped over the bar in a H!P tshirt as you walk through the airport ;p
Ah, I live in Hainault now, but again not far at all just round the corner. I never really there was another H!P so close by :)
Comment by CDv on Monday, 8th June 2009 15:02Haha that's an excellent idea, I'm definitely going to try it out :D I'll have to charge up before the concert though because they only allow unopened bottles into the hall, and the concert is the main place where I'm going to need a little confidence boost so to speak lol. Maybe before the Hello!Party too XD
I wasn't too sure about booking a hotel for the 29th, I was wondering if I'd just be able to sleep somewhere in the airport like a bum, and then wake up in time to see MM arrive if I'm lucky, but I guess if I'm with all my luggage it maybe isn't the safest idea. If you happen to find a decent hotel near the airport please feel free to contact me, maybe we could stay at the same hotel. I'll send you an email closer to the date with any information so it'll be easier to spot each other if I don't see a H!P fan sittiing in any bars lol. I should also be meeting up with my room mates on that day so we shouldn't be the only H!P fans at the airport :)
I'm not too familiar with the Hainault area, but compared to where other UK fans seem to be situated it really is close by! Awesome :D
Comment by Liz on Monday, 8th June 2009 18:28Paul, what are your thoughts on the new mini moni and casting choices that have already been made?
Comment by shadow on Monday, 8th June 2009 22:05So this is what happens when I reactivate my WoW account lol. I'm glad your going to be able to join us down in LA. Hopefully the city of angels will be good to you unlike a past cancelled event and hell if I see you I'll buy you a couple of shots or drinks your choice but we should see about everyone meeting up at least once when we are all down there. Maybe we could setup a meeting time for everyone several hours berfore the show? welll I hope everyone has a great time down there and hopefully this is just the beginning of HP's expansion.
Comment by paul.thomas on Tuesday, 9th June 2009 13:53CDv, sounds cool and I have to say the idea of sleeping in the airport did cross my mind, haha we can take it in turns to watch the luggage ;p
Liz, at the moments my thoughts on it are pretty mixed. I've been trying to write something up about it but I just haven't found the time to finish it off, I'll try and get it posted over the next few days.
shadow, yea I think we need to organise a meet at some point and before the shows seems like a good idea, we can all bounce our excitement off of each other and get even more worked up :)
