I Kanna Live Without You
Sunday, 12th July 2009 14:48
Damn, so I went out down the pub last night, had a few drinks, headed home had a couple more drinks and started to write a post about
Kanna leaving
C-ute, but mid way through I somehow ended up having a
pancake cook off with
Gina and by the time I'd finished all I can remember doing was listening to some Monkey Majik, putting my feet up and drifting off to sleep...and then somehow waking up in bed :S
There are two downsides to that story, my phone is now covered in pancake mix and in my struggle to get up to bed it looks like I didn't save my original post. Losing the post is a shame as well, drunken ramblings are always fun. I can even remember sitting in the back of the cab home thinking about what I was going to write, somehow comparing my purchase of a kebab to the loss of Kanna :S
I've no real idea where I was going with that post (all I can remember was that it started with the conversation I had with the guy making my kebab) and would have loved to of woken up this morning and read it, I've got to get in the habit of hitting that Save button whilst drunk. The only thing I can think it could have possibly been is that I bumped into an old friend after I bought my kebab and I think that may have been the whole point of the post.
Walking into the cab place sitting on the chair was Nadine, a friend who I hadn't seen for what must be 9-10 years we had a brief conversation (when I say brief, about 30 seconds) then she headed off with the cab driver and that'll be the last time I'll probably see her for another good few years. Thinking about it it's a little sad that my feelings to seeing this particular friend are so impartial, I neither care or don't care whether I bump into her again and I guess sadly that's my feeling towards Kanna's leaving. It would have been great for her to stay but I'm not fussed that she's leaving, certainly C-ute have proven that they're just as good without her. It's not like someone I really like
Nakki or
Erika are leaving, if they were it would be a totally different story.
All that's really left to wonder is the reasoning behind the departure, was the whole bunion thing just an elaborate story or was it something that set this whole thing in motion? There was the reports awhile back that she was seen with the Johnny's Jr member and according to
Hello!Online there are new photos that UFA have cross and that she's dating someone. I wonder if being away from H!P has in some way re-enforced an existing relationship or something like that? I guess we'll never know whether this was Kanna's choice or a choice forced upon her by the management, but we can always look at it from the approach Chris had;
Paul : someone just left c-ute;(
Chris : hope they are pregnant
Chris : who left then and why?????
Paul : kanna from cute, apparently wanted a 'normal life' but she was reported to be dating someone from a boy group awhile back, and then got a bunion and stopped performing after the operation and then today she left
Chris : so shes shagging some bloke and wants to just get fingered like any normal girl
Paul : thats one way to look at it yes

I think the bunion story was true... I'm no expert on them, but there's a big picture where you can see her feet at

Comment by DoubleJ on Sunday, 12th July 2009 19:10Chris is just a legend!!
I'm gutted that Kanna's left but life for C-ute goes on. I wonder if we'll ever get the truth about why she left? The official statement from UFA doesn't cut it for me at all. I think she was pushed out.
Comment by Nao on Sunday, 12th July 2009 21:23My guess is it went Aibon style, got caught once, didn't get to perform for a while and then something happened again and she was fired.
Comment by Liz on Sunday, 12th July 2009 23:13meh, who knows. the real discussion here is of course that UFA is a bunch of sketch bags who like to keep secrets. shitty way to run a business imo, having to cover your ass 24/7
paul, are you psyched for the zoku byuuden? I know you and your male readers enjoy sayumin quite a bit XD she and rika have a lot in common, first of which is neither can sing
I'm personally glad mai is in pucchimoni, this is a good casting choice
Comment by Gina on Sunday, 12th July 2009 23:40Do you remember when Megu left and everyone was like "OMG NOOO MEGU WE LOVE YOU MAN" and with Kanna nobody really cares? Must be an egg thing.
Comment by paul.thomas on Sunday, 12th July 2009 23:41nya, i know tell me about it, but i was so certain i saved it. ah well, next time lol. I think I agree on the whole bunion thing being true, but I wonder if perhaps the whole hiatus thing led to her spending more time with who ever she might be seeing, I guess the question is whether it was her choice or not?
DoubleJ, he certainly has a way with words sometimes lol. Do we ever get any truth out of H!P when it comes to things like this? I'm guessing this is going to be just another one of these things that we'll never really know for sure :(
Nao, exactly what I'm thinking. I'm curious to know if what H!O is saying is true, does that mean we'll see these photos cropping up in some magazine? Seems fairly pointless to get rid of her if the photos weren't going to appear in the press?
Liz, well I guess it's all part of the idol industry? Still at least means they're always kept busy, no slacking....might be nice if they could sort some of the problems before they appeared in the press though.
Zoku V-u-den....well I like the line up, but as to whether they can match the original, I doubt it, first off no one really has the boobs to fill Yui's place and as cute and sexy Sayu is, Charmy was more sleazy-ish sexy (do you know what I mean?) I don't know maybe it was me? But yeah I think Sayu doesn't quite fill the right sexy image for me. But if she wants to wear some of V-u-den's outfits I won't complain at all ;p LOL@ the not able to sing comment XD
Comment by Matt_D on Monday, 13th July 2009 00:10bleh tis just the way they do business - sign a contract abide by the contract. That's life in the corporate work - regardless. Different possisions with diffrenet visibility and different expectations have different responisbilities.
If she just got out coz she wanted to live like a normal girl - good for her. It's a nice quiet way to go. Being an idol is hard and like Reina said "if you can't handle just qiut morning musume" course that was a dance session but the feeling runs true - takes alot of sacrifice to be an idol. Why so much? Well that's an idols life, you think you can make it as a singer or an actor try avex or a talent scout, but I'll bet neither of those is any easier - just got different rules.
It''s a shame, but just another girl who did her time and moved on - good for her and I hope she has a great future whatever she chooses to do.
Comment by Sozomusume on Monday, 13th July 2009 00:28Hmm maybe she just couldn't handle the celeb life.
Comment by Innovera on Monday, 13th July 2009 00:29This is probably the best thing that could happen to Kanna. She got out early enough to switch her focus to getting into a good university; which will serve her better in the long run then continuing with H!P.
To me the interesting story was 5-6 months ago when UFA/H!P didn’t allow her to participate on the Bye Bye Bye single. I still don’t understand why having a bad foot would stop someone from being able to sing but somehow it did. The fact that she’s now officially not coming back only brings closure to something I figured from the beginning.
You know, I though Risako may have been pregnant back when she started putting on weight but, I guess not. I don’t know, H!P scandals are so lame.
Comment by paul.thomas on Wednesday, 15th July 2009 22:38Matt_D, I think that's exactly it, as shitty as it, it's a contract and if they break it UFA do what any other company would do. I still would love to know more about the contracts they have to sign, I wonder what all the rules are? I should of got up and asked that at the Q&A lol, although no doubt the translator would of threatened to take me to my room and rape me of something...it's not justmy warped memory, she did keep making references to taking people up to their hotel rooms and doing odd things to them??
Sozomusume, it's a possibility, but I wonder if that were the case wouldn't they give the oppurtunity to say goodbye to the fans? It's when they quickly rush them out the backdoor with no farewell and just a post a message up on the site saying that they've left when things start to sound a little odd, like they're trying to hide something.
Innovera, well I guess it depends on how she plans out the rest of her life, let's hope she doesn't regret it, being in a top charting ranking idol group and then going back to a normal life, although I'd imagine a nice relief in the short term I wonder what the whole long time side of things will work out, will she look back in 10 years see the members of C-ute doing what ever they're doing wihtin H!P at that time (yes I hold the hope that it'll still be around for that long lol) and realise she made a mistake? Hmmm...life, what can you do, live for the moment I guess, it's the only way.
Lol, yes H!P scandals are fairly lame, I remember awhile back someone emailed me about a potential scandal, which thankfully looked like it was someone just trying to wind me up, which was fairly unlame, so much so that I was in shock. It was quite funny, when I mentioned my worries to my ex and Chris they both fault it was something 'series' by the tone of my voice and then when I said what it was both had a little moan how I could get so serious over something so pointless lol :S
Comment by Hexi on Thursday, 16th July 2009 19:49i just think it';s sad no one really cares...... every member of a group should be an important part of the group. not just 2 or 3. that;s what ticks me off about H!P, that only a few key members are used, the others are, essentialy, just glorified back dancers. it makes me sad that one member can come and go and it doesn't make much difference to their music.
Comment by paul.thomas on Friday, 17th July 2009 09:52*shrugs* I've always considered H!P's ability to adapt to a situation it's strong point.
Sure, Kanna's left and it seems not many people care, but what would the difference of been if people had cared or she had been in a position like Airi or Maimi? Not much? They'd be some more posts on the forums and blogs but that would be it. C-ute would still go on exactly the same as they are, so you'd get a new vocalist a slight alter in the line up, not much else, musically they'd still be pretty much the same and given awhile it would be like she was never in the group, much like with all the graduations and departures within H!P.
I certainly feel sorry for Kanna that most people don't really seem to care about her departure, as with all these sudden departures it's the individual member I feel most sad for rather than H!P or the group. I guess as the whole Aibon scandal showed with her lack of contact she had with Nono during her suspension, Kanna's more than likely going to leave and be cut off from a group of friends that she was extremely close to, whether it's a matter of them not having time for her due to their work schedule or UFA stepping in saying you can't contact her (don't want her giving the other members ideas?) it's going to happen and all she'll be able to do is look in from the outside at something she was once part off :'(
