It's Not Like Someone I Really Like, Like Nakki or Erika Are Leaving...

Saturday, 1st August 2009 15:38

Damn it! It just had to happen didn't it. Sod's f'ing law that I had to go and say something in my post about Kanna departure from C-ute (I Kanna Live Without You) "It's not like someone I really like, like Nakki or Erika are leaving, if they were it would be a totally different story. ".

So the plan for today was to do some work and at some point write a post about Morning Musume's single Nanchatte Renai, well the order of what I was going to do things in has changes, post first work later and also the post has changed, which you probably guessed by the first paragraph of this post.
First Kanna and now Erika, it's like UFA decided that the general "meh, and?" reaction to Kanna departure wasn't enough, lol. Well she's not graduated yet a couple of months left, so it's not all dreadful news at least I have some time to get my head around it. Graduations aren't the best of things, but there's nothing worse than those surprising unexpected departures.
There's been a constant battle in my mind as to who my favourite within C-ute was, Erika was my original favourite but quite some time Nakki has risen to an equal position, I guess the only plus side out of this is that I know Nakki is my favourite by default now? The bizarre thing with the whole Erika graduation is that with single releases at least I don't think I'm actually going to miss her, well that's a lie of course I'm going to miss her but because she rarely gets any decent lines and for the most part any decent screen time (has one girl ever spent that much time in the corners and edges of a PV?) is it going to be that noticeable? And I'm saying that being a huge Erika fan. Totally crap that I'm guessing we won't be getting an Erika PB now, but perhaps with her aims of becoming a fashion model it'll just be an excuse to start buying fashion mags of her modelling? MEh. To be honest I'm kinda all over the place on this.

And with C-ute soon to be down to 5 members, is it going to affect them in any way? Certainly it's not going to affect my love of the unit, any unit is more than one member even and with so many great members within the unit left there's still a lot to love. Again perhaps this means that more lines and screen for the remaining girls, apart from making it an Airi/Maimi fest? But then I just think to myself, why would this make any difference? Much like Kanna she's not really used that well in the single releases in my opinion and so I think her departure, much like Kanna's isn't going to make a major difference with the single releases. Concerts however are going to be a different all together, for me her parts within the C-ute concerts are always my favourites.
Damn it! I'm pleased she's able to follow her dream of becoming a fashion model, but what about me?

Just mentioned this to Chris whose sitting behind me playing Ghostbusters he chirped in with the comment :S
"There's a whole lot of fingering going on in C-ute!"

I've got to biggie up for Erika, as a fellow tall girl. If it were maimai, I'd be -super- sad

Yeah C-ute's backing group is now down to three. It probably won't make any difference to their singles (except the pv's might just linger on the other members that bit longer) but away from the music it will make a difference. Erika was great when C-ute had Yorosen episodes. Her personality was really funny. Just imagine if, somehow, some way, H!P was able to have a tv show again. C-ute would be lacking a little bit in the personality stakes. I was really hoping that we'd get to see her step into the spotlight a bit more. She had so much untapped potential.

I wonder if H!P will go the MM way and add new members? The brand name of C-ute has been built up. Maybe adding a few members would be a way of ensuring it's continuation?

Out of the H!P Kids, I support (buy their stuff) Berryz more than C-ute, but this trend is still a bit disturbing. I definitely don't want Maasa, Chinami, or Captain to be next. It's possible that Erika really has wanted a different career and the timing is just a coincidence, at least I hope that's the case.

@Morningtime - I think that maybe Erikas potential may well be getting tapped already which is probably why shes leaving . . . . . . .

You see C-ute as a hotbed of steamy action don't you Chris? Is it possible that you like these groups more than you're letting on? You seem to think there's more finger work going on than at a Mano Erina concert. Of course I'm not saying you're wrong...

All teenage girls are a hotbed of steamy action, I know this for I was once a teenage boy.

commentComment by xaroya on Saturday, 1st August 2009 21:50
Somehow I agree with Chris... they are teenagers and they want to live their life. The H!P conecept might have worked with previous generations but I wouldn't wonder if Mitsui graduates before Aichan does.

Oh no! That's the worst news for me. Erika is my 3rd fave H!P member.

commentComment by Morningtime on Sunday, 2nd August 2009 16:45
Xaroya are you suggesting that Mitsui leaving before Ai-chan is a bad thing in some way?

A cheap dig at Mitsui perhaps but as much as I like her if she was the next to leave that would probably be one of the less painful goodbyes. She doesn't really have that idol something. Whatever that 'something' is. She's cute at times but annoying at others.

if she was getting tapped she wouldn't be graduating she'd just disappear with the old "blah member has left we thank them and wish them the best."

commentComment by Morningtime on Sunday, 2nd August 2009 19:18
Maybe she's not getting tapped right now but she'd like to be real soon? Being 18 her hormones will be at an all-time great level. Perhaps the thought of another 5 or 6 years playing hide the hairbrush handle on her own in her room is just to much to take?

Then again I don't see sex as being the primary reason for every decision taken within H!P. I mean it is just possible she's got thoroughly bored of being one of the less active members of C-ute when it comes to singing. Being backing vocalist to Maimi and Airi probably isn't every girls dream job. Especially with Airi. I mean 3 years is a big gap at that age. Being second fiddle to a kid is probably a bit annoying. Especially when said kid gets drooled over every time she moves a muscle. An 18 year old may be tempted to think that this isn't the most rewarding experience.

But then again we always tend to look at things from a western perspective. These girls come from a totally different culture.

Well out of all eight members of C-ute(past and present) Erika was my fifth favorite but I care about her leaving more than I cared about Kana(at least we have a graduation concert to look forward too).

Both Umeda's and Kanna's contributions to C-ute's 2007 year, the best 12 months any band has ever had in music history, cannot go unheralded. I hope Umeda's graduation knocks 'em dead. And ... it's now high time for Saki Ogawa!

I agree with you Morningtime, I don't think this has anything to do with sex, relationships or anything like that. I think it's purely down to her wanting to move on with her career into something she's always wanted to do and to be honest who can really blame her? Saves being stuck in the back row in the corner of every PV, hardly getting any lines.
I only hope as with all these things that I'll be able to follow her outside of H!P.

Hopefully she'll get the attention she deserves doing this.

I also agree with Chris... they are teenagers and they want to live their life.

i just hope Umai is successful in her modelling.
at least let het get some kind of spot light.
gotta be better than spending the rest of her time being stuck in the back row and never getting any good lines in songs.
totally under-rated and under-used. Chris said something about the members of C-ute getting the finger but being an idol and only get a spot at the back and no solos is pretty much getting the finger anyways.
so good for her.
that's what ticks me off about H!P. some girls are over-used others aren't used enough.

still love it though. XD

It's not like the whole over-used/under-used thing is a recent occurrence it's a major pain in the arse, but I think it's something with all just grown to accept. We moan about it occasionally, but do we ever expect anything different?

commentComment by Hexi on Monday, 10th August 2009 10:14
No but it still pisses me off majorly. and it's getting much more noticable now that there are less over-used members. at least with 15nin momusu we had variety in the over-used members......

oh wells.....
