Hangry and Angry in Paris..

jph!p : [11/2009] hANGRY & ANGRY in Paris
Gotta thank Almond for posting this on the jph!p forum and giving us a heads up. It doesn't matter when or where I'm going to be there for sure. How could I possibly miss it? With how cheaply and quickly I can get to France it would be stupid of me not to, plus all them "Why don't H!P come to Europe" are worth nothing if I pass on it. Plus I think the bottom line is, how could I possibly pass on an opportunity to see Yossie and Charmy so close to home? As to how to get there, I've yet to decide mainly because I'm still liking the idea of last years planned attempt of getting to the French Expo and driving. Cram some people in and have ourselves a road trip. At the minute there's no real details, just November lol, but sod it if they're there so am I!

So whilst we wait and see what this Hangry and Angry thing is, see how many people you can spot in the AX Documentary ;p

I may be living in the past, but dammit if I didn't choke up on seeing those performances. It was much better and a little less pixellated to see it in real-life, but I was there, dang it.

I recognized a lot of people there, particularly Moze at the Q&A, just after Koha says "I love L.A."... Sadly, and to my credit, you won't find me in any of the shots. I quite like going under the radar.

Last, you won't see me in Paris. Too far away -- not the case for you, Tom -- and too many French people. I hear they *love* American tourists, though.

I've only watched it the once so far and that was on the train on my iPhone so I've been squinting to spot people, but I can remember seeing CDevil, Hendrik, Mozenator and Lampshade I know there's a ton of others that'll I recognise when I manage to get the higher quality version, actually managed to download a torrent in the office im working in yesterday which I was all excited about, but when i got home it turns out for whatever reason the file i downloaded was corrupt :'( i'll have to try again today.
I know exactly how you felt, rewatching the concert was great expecially catching glimpses of everyone, lol I sent Mozenator a txt when I saw him at the q and a....and the realised he was probably sound asleep with the time difference lol, hope I didn't wake you Moz.

Lol, yea with it being so close to AX I imagine it may be a little too much for some, but I'm really lucky in the sense that a return ticket will cost me less than I spent on Saturday hanging out in London. Lol, that seems to be a common response to people I've asked if they're going.

In France?! When?! God, why not Momusu?! I'm not into Rika or Yossie or even them both. Berryz? C-ute? God, even the Eggs! Argh, I would have to reconsider. What an opportunity.

commentComment by Hexi on Tuesday, 8th September 2009 14:59
just cause i'm up for it doesn't mean i can afford it.

if i can't buy a photobook or two i can't get to fance. *sigh*

they couldn't have organised this like in the summer maybe? ¬_¬

Crazy. I'm all over the GD thing. I couldnt see it at first until Tom told me about the widescreen HD version...I say you, Jyoru on one of the Hello! Party vids on youtube...And , Tom, I never sleep and my phone is always on silent lol just in case...no worries. It was cool to get a txt from you. If u change ur mind about akb48 let me know.

AWESOME! We got dates and venue!
It's at the Chibi Japan Expo which is on the 30th October to the 1st November!
http://www.chibi-japan-expo.com/NL/0910_CJE03_NL_2009-09-08_FR.htm

There's also a little criptic message in there as well "But whiat hides behind HANGRY&ANGRY ?"....could that possibly mean an extra guest?...or possibly another appearance from Tsunku?

ladybird, exactly "what an opportunity" who knows when the chance of seeing some H!P related artists perform so close to home, no way I can pass this.

Hexi, that really sucks if you can't afford it, such a perfect opportunity to see them and so close. Still you never know they could come to the UK at some point. When I checked this afternoon I was able to get a flight, hotel (firday morning to sunday evening) and tickets to the event all for £100 so it's not overly expensive, heh I did more money on Saturday :S
Don't feel like breaking into the Japan fund?

Mozenator, I still need to watch a good copy of this apparently there's tons of people in it, but the copy I have is so blurry I can't make anyone out unless they take up most of the screen.
Lol, looks like you're much like me with the sleeping pattern, of not having any XD I'm going to have a word with the guy I work with tomorrow as he's off to New York at some point in the next few weeks, if it overlaps the performance I might try and persuade him to let me go instead, can't beat free flights :)

commentComment by Hexi on Wednesday, 9th September 2009 10:11
no, japan fund is for japan. i'm keeping the isa book thingy hidden in my room so i'm not even tempted to use it.

not that i'd be able to find anyone to come to france with me anyways. i might have plenty of anime friends now at uni but no H!P friends. >w<

it's just not possible.
oh well, i'll live.

commentComment by paul.thomas on Wednesday, 9th September 2009 10:32
Wow, really? You're going to be that strict with your Japan cash? I thought getting to see both Yossie and Charmy might have convinced you to take a chance and pinch a little cash from it to go see them live...plus it's not like you like Yossie or anything ;p
It's not like I have the money either really at the moment, but damn when is a chance like this going to happen again, and so cheaply? You could even head out there for just a day.

And like having no one to go with should stop you, if that was the case I (and I'd imagine a ton of other people) wouldn't have even considered going to LA.

commentComment by Matt_D on Wednesday, 9th September 2009 13:33
*seconds the Japan stash is for Japan.

Yeah but Tom despite some evidence to the contrary you arn't a girl lol.

I want to see a stack of concerts in Japan as such the fund must be reinforced *eyes santander credit card*

Hello !
I don't know if you recall : I'm the one who works at japan expo on summer, I don't know if I will work to chibi expo yet, but it may be the case. I will ask for a job in the amphitheatre for sure ! XD

Maybe I can help you with the "But what hides behind HANGRY&ANGRY" cause I'm pretty sure it's a way to say (maybe a really -french- way to say ?) "You probably wonder who those girls are..." in order to introduce the word "discover".

See you !

commentComment by paul.thomas on Wednesday, 9th September 2009 23:49
Matt_D, I still raid the Japan stash, it's the first (and who knows last?) European performance, that's gotta count for something right? And don't worry I'll continue to pester you on MSN everyday until the event itself trying to get you to come along.

Nyny-chan, yep I remember, if you're not working it I'm guessing you'll attend? Have to admit it must be cool working these events as you must get to see so much! Ah, yeah that makes sense, thanks for translating :) Catch you there?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH a true fan test.

I am looking forward to the journey there with Paul getting to rip him about how right I was about a large portion of H!P fandom.

(rubs hands with evil glee)

I understand the Japan fund is for Japan only, but I want to put in my 2 cents. Seeing them @ Sakura-con was amazing, my first taste of the fandom away from a computer.
Not only was the concert great, I met a lot of like minded people and made more than a few friends.
The biggest point I want to get across is, the more people go now, the more likely they (and many others) will be back more often.
Like the song says " Life is one time" take the chance and live it. Japan will allways be there.................unless you believe the Myan calander then the world ends 2012 so you have until then.

commentComment by Matt_D on Thursday, 10th September 2009 11:14
@The Chris
Lol you should come to the H!P meet in November.

@"Once in a life time chance"
Nah I already had that, 15 minutes at a table talking to Reina, done and dusted. Also you don't have to worry about people turning up to the event, France has a big j-pop scene in comparison to the rest of the Western world (they even have their own channel.)

I also remember it taking _alot_ of effort to get Tom to go to the states for MM lol.

I'd rather save more money and see more concerts in Japan, and I'd also sooner have someone that likes H&A get the seat I'd take up lol. If it were anyone but that unit I'd probably be going lol.

commentComment by Hexi on Thursday, 10th September 2009 11:21
To me, Japan IS once in a lifetime.
Fair enough that it's a rare thing for them to be so close but i'm holding onto the dream that they'll come to the UK at some point.......

although i am getting my shirt back in the next few days so it's massivly tempting to get it signed again........

commentComment by paul.thomas on Thursday, 10th September 2009 12:05
Rick, I think you said it much better than I ever could, I was going to right a comment last night and as both Matt and Chris will no doubt agree with me on, I was getting rather annoyed.
I totally agree with you, we need to show our support and I don't think it's just supporting one it's a matter of supporting them all, because in my eyes if one turn out is poor for one unit it'll affect the appearances of any other of the artists coming over.
And, like you say the whole community aspect of it was amazing, being in a room with people with a love for H!P was amazing, bumping into everyone that I speak to online was beyond amazing.

Matt_D, from the last time I mention it to Chris, he agreed to come event to the Cosplay Ball...which I'm really interested to see his reaction to.
With you and Lampshade I totally get where you're coming from, but it doesn't mean I'm going to stop bugging you each day about it, haha get my own back for LA. But yeah, I agree my decision to go LA was extremely last minute and having gone I realise what I would have missed if I didn't go and I'd be regretting it for ever, obviously the MM concert, the autographs, the q&a's are givens but it's not just that, it's the meeting of people, just look at Hexi's comment of "but no H!P friends" I'm not going to go into how wrong that is, but *shrugs* how are you supposed to make H!P friends (outside of the net) if you don't go to things like this?

And I think this is a big difference than going to Japan of the US to see them, for less than the flights to either of those places us UK folk can be over in France in an hour or two, see the girls and be back home in our own bed before midnight.
Not liking them is a whole different thing. And I can understand that, personally I want you guys to come along because it'll be a laugh.

Hexi, much like Rick said, Japan isn't going anywhere, we don't really talk any more so I've no idea what your plans for Japan are, for all I know you could have everything booked up and flights ready for a month of two like Matt and Lampshade, but if they're not, personally I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be spending a bit of that cash to go see an act that you love (again, for all I know you're love of Yossie and H&A may have died), as I say what's £100/£150 pounds taken from it? If you're not planning on going to Japan for awhile it's not a stupidly large amount of money to save?

Meh, what can I say this has got me a little annoyed. Why? Heads over the H!O forum...wow, impressive!! A wonderful 4 responses to the news of them performing in Paris om the forum and not one of them saying they'll be going, that's shit, if you pardon my french lol ;p

I think Daigong said it best on the jph!p forum (which is giving a lot more love to this than the H!O forum) "This is the EUROPEANS Chance to SHINE".
Sure they'll be people at the Expo anyway and some of them will no doubt go and watch the performance but we know what those people are like, those were the people sitting behind us at AX; in their seats, quietly watching the concert with no glow sticks and no enthusiasm. I know I might be coming across as a bit of cunt on this but we get a chance to show that we're fans and almost everyone I've asked has responded with a "meh, maybe"... Personally I'd like to give a little bit more back to the idols that make my life so fun :)

LOL!! Looks I still ended up posting that rant I mentioned XD

commentComment by InsaneLampshade on Thursday, 10th September 2009 12:49
I'm really not that into Hangry & Angry. If it were any other H!P related band then yes, but H&A... no. Quite frankly i find their whole style incredibly superficial and fake. And it's not helped by my dislike of Charmy.

Their band is the equivalent of taking Oasis, dressing them up in kilts and making them play bagpipe music, all because some Scottish kilt designer has paid them some money to advertise their products. They don't like bagpipe music, they don't like kilts, hell they probably don't even like fans of bagpipe music and kilts, they're only doing it because it pays their rent.

I like Yossie, but not in the monstrosity that is H&A.

commentComment by CDevil on Thursday, 10th September 2009 12:55
I was just checking prices, and a return flight to Paris costs about £50, FFS I must have spent way more than that last week at the H!P meet!! For what you're getting £150 or so is extremely good value for money. No way I'm missing this, the only bad thing is that after seeing MM in LA, H&A in Paris is gonna be a bit depressing...I have bad memories of Paris >_>

commentComment by Matt_D on Thursday, 10th September 2009 13:02
LOL I'd love to see people trying to get Oasis into kilts and playing bagpipes - seriously, that'd be funny.

I sperrr err no I o yes that was it, I spent about £100 on saturday, but I did bowling, drank booze, ate two meals and sang karaoke whilst talking about H!P with friends.

commentComment by The Chris on Thursday, 10th September 2009 16:13
@Rick . . . . Well said that man. Seriously congratulations you have passed the true fan test for sure. If this where an anime that moment would be accompanied by the 'get em going' music. A fans a fan and I salute that!

To the others . . . you still have your chance . . . . .

Oh and everyone that says Japan is a once in a lifetime trip, it isn't. I thought the the first time I went. I have been 7 times now and I am pretty poor and I am also pretty convinced that when any of you go you won't be able to catch more than two concerts without some serious traveling, unless you see the same ones twice.

commentComment by Matt_D on Thursday, 10th September 2009 16:32
@The Chris
No problem seeing the same one twice, infact it's preferable to see them twice in one day the morning show is more of a warm up. Also the music set is often the same for the whole tour maybe with orders changing (ergo one girl gets the main lines one concert, then another the next), the MC's are different everytime though, we saw 6 MM concerts and 2 berryz concerts in 10days aswell as perfume and macross frontier concerts. Next trip will be my third and we're looking to get 6 or so wonderful hearts concerts in there.

Again France has a massive scene and a handful of foreign show ups wont make a dent in the local turnout.

commentComment by Matt_D on Thursday, 10th September 2009 16:57
o lampshade reminded me we also saw the kiriri revolution concert, we had a second pair of perfume tickets but they sucked live so we sold them to some guys outside the event.

First time we went we saw Perfume (they were good then), minori chihara, Harenchi Punch, a H!P stage show, about 10 akb48 stage shows, a random idol contest, an akb handshake, and an akb high five event.

commentComment by Hexi on Thursday, 10th September 2009 17:07
£100 is alot of money when you have no job to earn it back!

Japan cash is for japan.

hopefully i'll be able to go next summer. nothing is planned yet but it's looking like late may early june.... although there probably won't be any H!P concerts around that time..... i'll have to check.

Lampshade, but then can really be said about most units right? Look at Buono! and Koha's solo stuff, it's essentially the same but instead of a fashion label it's an anime series.

Hexi, well it's a shame you can't go, but at least it looks like you've got your Japan trip planned :) You're off to uni in a couple of days right? Have fun!

Sozomusume, I still need to get better version of this video, hmmm I wonder if my office minds me taking up another gig of it's bandwidth lol.

yeah, i'm moving down on sunday so i'll be out of action for a while.

and i'm working on this paris thing. i've realised i have a good £150 saved up for expo. i'll go to that (gotta show off the koha cosplay!!!!) and pester the boyfriend to take me to paris. cause like.... being so close to yossie would be...... too amazing for words. cause like... you know, i practically worship that woman..... i'll need someone to lean on. XD

commentComment by InsaneLampshade on Friday, 11th September 2009 13:30
@paul Ah yes, but i like those, so that's perfectly fine.

If Buono went off and started singing silly hippie new age junk, or Koha went off doing retarded heavy metal shouty junk, and Mano started singing emo-slit-your-wrists-vampire-we-all-wear-black-because-we-think-we're-not-sheep junk music, then it would no longer be fine.

There are boundaries to acceptability and plausibility.

I love Junjun's english it's so cute and yes, I can understand everything prefectly.

After watching videos like these I wish I could be in MM but it would pretty weird seeing a foreigner or in this case a black girl in MM.
But I can dream,right?

commentComment by paul.thomas on Saturday, 12th September 2009 17:32
Hexi, make sure you try and spread the H!P love amongst you're room mates, just don't let them pinch you're Yossie pillow ;p And I have to say I'm really pleased you're trying to head out to Paris out of everyone I know you have to be the biggest Yossie fan, so yea I'm glad you're going to get a chance to see her. And with the news of more possible European dates, certainly looks like we could be in for some more dates as well.

lampshade. lol, to be honest I'd be interested to see Mano going Emo, it'd be interesting to say the least, plus if she was to get all Emo-afied I definitely won't complain...I do love a nice emo girl ;p

Matt_D, well at least you have the con before then as well, so it's not that much longer to wait. Still need to decide whether I'm going or not, weighing up that, the London Expo and just sitting on my bum getting excitied about the following weekend, it's a tough one.

Rick, oh that's great news! Looking forward to this European tour, an excuse to wander around Europe on lots of short breaks perhaps? I'll be making sure to keep an eye on those tours dates, hopefully they'll put them up soon, be interesting to see if there's a UK date...I'm guessing there will be as I know some of the other artists have performed over here before.

Halle, I loved the girls English, they were all so cute and it got a really great reaction when they spoke it. For me Linlin's English was the cutest. And there's nothing wrong with dreams at all. And I don't know how odd it would be with having a foreigner within MM, just look and Linlin and Junjun they've integrated pretty well into the group.

yeah but with a tour planned in 2010 is there any point going to paris now.......??

ngh. confusing.

moving to bournemouth today! Y_Y

commentComment by paul.thomas on Sunday, 13th September 2009 10:20
Of course there's a point. It's their first (and H!Ps) first European performance so it'll no doubt have that extra buzz and that aside if giving the opportunity to see a live performance of an act you love once of twice, personally I know I'd go for twice, the opportunity doesn't come along that often so personally I'm going to make sure to lap it up. Plus with it being Halloween seems like a perfect time for them to play, who knows they may even play up to the date and make it an extraspecial performance?
Also there's no dates confirmed yet, so I guess there's no guarantee that they'll be performing over here, my fingers are tightly crossed that they will, but who knows. By the looks of things they'll just be doing the expo's and the like, so I guess we can kind of predict when they could be performing, but I doubt they have enough of a UK following at the moment to do a performance outside of that, I guess they could be a support act or something?
You're off today! Have fun!

commentComment by Matt_D on Sunday, 13th September 2009 14:13
and more to the point - there isn't likely to be autographs/q&a/etc at a tour event.

@tom I dunno I can see them playing small ass venue's in london, 100 >200 odd capacity and just being able to fill it out with anifans.

heeeyyyy Reina in my question box

commentComment by paul.thomas on Tuesday, 15th September 2009 12:10
Yeah, the q&a/autographs are going to be only found at an expo, lol I'll have to brush up on my french if they do one in Paris :S
I'm still not sure what I'll take over with me to get signed if they do an autograph session. There's no Hangry and Angry posters floating around the net that I can see, and the thought of getting an album signed doesn't really excite me, there's always photos I guess, but I was kind of hoping for something bigger...could always by an Angry doll for Charmy to sign, but then what would I get Yossie to sign...too confusing :(

Would they come to something like that? I know I've been tempted to go to some of the performances by Japanese artists in the UK but not being a fan of them I've lacked any real incentive to go, I thought it would be pretty much the same for them?

commentComment by Rick on Wednesday, 16th September 2009 06:59
you need to be carefull about what you get. I brought my 10th aniversary and Thanks for the Love concert dvds to get signed, Not realizing that they are "in character" and sign everything in front of them as Hangry & Angry.
There were some that when asked for Yossi or charmy they were able to get that but You gots to have the courage to speak when in front of them. That and I wasn't aware of the in character thing untill after the fact.
