368 CommentsFrom the experience of last years poll and the amount of time it took me to sit through and sort the data I decided to give myself a couple of extra days to go through all the data, but even now as I type this the post is late. I had planned to start going through the data at midnight on Monday, unfortunately after downloading all the data and storing it locally I suddenly woke up laying on top of my laptop at 3am, one night down. Tuesday I managed to sort through the data removing duplicate posts and the likes to help get a more accurate and non biased view on the results, with the number of votes taken this time it took most of the night. And then last night I again found myself going to bed at 3am as I start to look and compare the results, although this time I hadn't collapsed on the laptop ;p
I managed to sit down and separate all the votes into their relevant countries and unlike last years I want to cover more individual countries rather than than just the three (Japan, UK and US) I covered before and because of this I'm going to separate the results into two posts, this post, which will cover the overall results and another in a couple of days covering the results of individual countries. I apologise for the lateness of this post and the half finished feel to it, as that's exactly what it is half finished, hopefully later tonight I'll get a chance to sit down and update this with some more of my comments, but the results do a good job of speaking for themselves.
The amount of users voting this time around has been amazing and is more than double that of the previous poll of 487, with a total of 1048 users voting over the three units. Morning Musume received the most votes with 1026 people ranking the members and although both Berryz Koubou and C-ute didn't receive as many rankings they weren't far off. Berryz Koubou received 933 user rankings and C-ute coming in just behind with 930. As to whether we can use this as way of viewing a units popularity I'm not entierly sure, but it's very interesting to see how close C-ute is to Berryz, certainly with the quality of C-ute's releases it's not hard to see why they would be just as popular, with just 3 votes separating them I'm guessing the upcoming 'Battle' concert featuring both units should be an amazing watch, I wonder if the fans of each unit will be separated off in case of possible clashes, although H!P concerts generally sound like a football match I can't imagine H!P 'firms' appearing.
This time around I also wanted to try and collect a little bit more information about everyone that posted, so I gave the option of including age and gender, in the hope of trying to see how our community is built up and if it is similar to that of the general H!P fan in Japan. Admitidly I don't know what the average H!P fan in Japan is but if I go with what I saw whilst attending the concert and popping into the official stores, I'd go with a 16-30 year old male, if anyone knows differently (perhaps there's been an article in a magazine or something similar covering this?) then please let me know as I would really like to compare. To be honest I was really surprised with the amount of people who actually submitted their details, I was half expecting people to just ignore it, but out of everyone who was part of the poll 49 skipped entering the age and 46 skipped gender. As a way to quickly visualise the results I'm going to use a couple of charts.

Looking at the ages it looks like my initial guess seems to be correct. The majority of people are in their teens and 20's. Looking at these results and the amount of you that actually entered the details, it made me wish that I had got a little but more specific and broken down the ages even further, I would have really liked to see, especially with the 11-20 range, what side the majority (if any) falls on, early or late teens or a mix of both. From looking at the age range either side of these -10 and 31-40 and the sudden drop offs, it could be fair to assume that the middle range of the two could be the most common range of fans, say between the ages of 15 and 25., this would leave me just outside the common age range.

This result really surprised me. I was obviously expecting there to be female fans, but I was almost positive that the results would have been reversed, with the guys just leading over girls, I would have even put money on it. As I said previously I can't be certain what the average Japanese fan is like, but I'd hazard a guess that it isn't female.
In the next post I make about the results I'll try and look in a little bit more detail into the both age and sex, I'll look specifically in relation to the units and countries.
Now it's time to look at the overall rankings for each of the units, starting with Morning Musume. But just before we do I'll explain on how we came to these results. It works the same as the previous poll, for each vote that was made each member will be awarded a relevant score, if we take Morning Musume as the example, in my case I ranked Kohachan in the 1st position, for this she will be awarded 9 points (because there are 9 members, the member voted 1st in both Berryz and C-ute would recieve 7 points), whilst Junjun in last place would only recieve a score of 1. These scores have been added together from everyone that submitted their rankings, and ordered high to low, the highest being the most popular member.

First things first...where's the love for Koharu? OK, she may not be last this time around but that's not the point! Being a big fan of Koha this is surprising to me as I was positive that she'd won around a ton more fans since the last poll, with her great singles and amazing PB release I was sure she'd rank higher.
Interestingly the results are quite different to the last poll, with members jumping all over the place. We have Aichan, who came in top of the last poll, falling to 3rd place with Gaki rising to take the top position. To be honest, I'm really quite glad that Gakisan has climbed up to first place as out of all the members she's the one that has grown on me the most and climbed from No.5 in my original poll to No.3 in this one. To help try show and compare the rankings of the two polls I've delved into Excel and knocked up yet another graph which I hope will show not only the positions of the last poll compared to this one, but also the growth each member has made. The results of this was achieved by taking the total number of points for each member and then dividing them by the number people taking part in the poll. The bar on the left side for each member shows the results from the previous poll, whilst the right side shows this poll.
1. Niigaki Risa (6586)
Rising from 2nd place Gaki seems to have not only made an impression on me since the last vote, but on everyone else as well, it has to be that amazing smile and just general cute expression she makes. She's such an amazing personality just seeing on the screen makes me smile. And with a new PB release scheduled in it looks like a lot of us could be buying it.
Her ranking is certainly reflected in her current work within H!P, with Nono gone and Gaki taking over her role of Athena in Robby Kerobby, the formation of Athena & Robikerottsu and with her being part of Morning Musume Tanjou 10nen Kinentai she's certainly getting the attentino she rightly deserves. I wonder if the rest of Athena & Robikerottsu rank as high?
2. Kamei Eri (6436)
Much like Gaki, Kamei has risen since last time. And with only 150 votes seperating them this was the closest battle for 1st position out of the three units. With the recent scandal (if you can call it that) story apparently involving her, it's good to see that this hasn't reflected on how she's been ranked, this is the biggest jump up for any member, with an additional 4654 points when compared to the last poll.
3. Takahashi Ai (6266)
Aichan falling two places to number 3, last years numero uno is now in 3rd place. It's good to see that although she's fallen since the last vote that the current leader of Morning Musume is still ranking in the top 3.
4. Tanaka Reina (5980)
Reina has managed to pull herself up one position since last year from No.5 to No.4. Again though, much like in the last poll I thought that she would rank higher than this. With the amount of PB releases she has (she certainly appears to get more than everyone else within H!P, as to whether she does or not I'm not sure) and the amount of fans she has on forums and blogs I would have thought she would have come in a little higher.
5. Michishige Sayumi (5136)
Sayu has the biggest drop in the results. Although her fall in position is only the same distance as Ai's fall (2 places) it's more the amount of points received or lack of them that makes the fall so drastic. Aichan may have fallen from 1st to 3rd, but looking at the amount of points awarded to her, it's still fairly close within the top three, with only 320 points between her and Gaki. There's a 1130 point difference between Sayumi and Ai, whose in her position from last year. Reina whose ranked one position above her has a point difference of 844, more than double that of the difference between 3rd and 1st position.
6. JunJun (4840)
The popularity of Junjun is very surprising, as she comes higher ranked than both Mittsi and Koha and again if we look at the points awarded to her compare them to the member below her (Mittsi) there's a gap also as large as between Sayu and Reina. Junjun has a 788 point lead on the next member down. I say her positioning above both Aika and Kohachan is a surprise, but it's not really, it's more of a surprise going by how I voted as both Junjun and Linlin appeared at the bottom, I know when I was looking through the results posted up on other sites she ranked quite highly and I was half expecting to her appear somewhere like this.
When I made the original poll although both Junjun and Linlin featured in the current line up I thought it would have been too soon to rank them, only being in Morning Musume a short time and the fact that as a community we all seemed to be a little bit wary of these two new Chinese members, that certainly has seemed to pass.
7. Mitsui Aika (4052)
On looking through the points awarded members seem to be segmented and within these little segments they fight for who will be top of that part. We have the fight for the top positions, Gaki, Kamei, Ai and Reina all fighting it out, and then the fight for the middle to bottom half of the ranking. Sayumi and Junjun scoring quite closely and then Mittsi and Koha. Much like the previous poll Aika comes in just in front of Koha, so close are the results to last year that when taking their scores away from each other there's only 6 point gap difference. Last year Mittsi scored 1440 and Koha 1338, a difference of 102. This time around Mittsi has 4052 whilst Koha has 3944, a difference of 108 points.
8. Koharu Kusume (3944)
Koha's position is really dissapointing for me, obviously being a huge fan of hers I would have really loved her to score higher, she is after all meant to be Morning Musume's Ace. I know a lot of people aren't too keen on her purely because of the amount attention she recieves, with her playing quite a large part in the most of the recent Morning Musume PVs, her solo career (and formation of the one single unit KiraPika), voice acting within Kirarin Revolution and her inclusion in the line up of Morning Musume Tanjou 10nen Kinentai, there's no denying that if you're not a fan of hers it's only going to be made worse by the fact that she's forced upon you all the time.
9. Linlin (2930)
Last but not least is Linlin. And all I can really say is Ouch! She's not only last but look at that score, she's so far behind, 1014 points behind Koharu. Although she was an Egg before apearing in Morning Musume, I think that Junjun has always had the advantage over her. Certainly with Junjun's blog and photos online (didn't she also have a short lived modeling career?) she automaticaly got a lot more attenetion and even though some of it was bad (remember some of them comments left on her blog?) it seems to have worked in her favour.

I'm going to keep the comments here minimal, not because I don't have anything to say, but because I'm typing this sat in the of an office being refurbished, dust everywhere, lots of noise and builders wandering around...oh yeah, and the fact that I should really be working ;p I'll try to update the post with some more comments later on.
1. Tsugunaga Momoko (4534)
In my eyes the top of Berryz was always going to be a fight between three members; Momo, Miyabi and Risako. And I'm really glad that Momo has taken the spot. Much like Gakisan, Momo is a member I've only recently taken a liking too, mainly thanks to that great new unit
Buono!. She may at times look a little odd, but I think her cute and funny nature really has helped come out top.
2. Natsuyaki Miyabi (4157)
3. Sugaya Risako (3836)
I was slightly worried that Risako may end up in Koharu territory, with the attention she been recieveing within recent releases I was half expecting to see her turn up in the bottom half. But it's good to see that this isn't the case.
4. Tokunaga Chinami (3620)
Chinami, a member that I've never paid any attention to until the last PV release. For me she made the PV, sure Risako with her pink megaphone and Momo with her aviatar glasses and guitar playing helped, but the PV for Dschinghis Khan is all about Chinami. Hopefully her short hair is gone forever and will get to see some of her in the upcoming releases, perhaps on the next poll will see her raise up higher?
5. Shimizu Saki (3519)
6. Kumai Yurina (3412)
7. Sudou Maasa (3146)

Again, just so that I can get the votes out, I'm going to try and leave making comments on this until later, although I'm not to sure if I can resist making the odd comment here as out of three units C-ute is the one was most interested in seeing the results too as I got the impression the reults were going to be fairly evenly spread out. Aside from the two obvious favourites Maimi and Airi, it's anyone's game.
1. Yajima Maimi (4773)
Maimi comes in top of the C-ute poll, which isn't too surprising as what's not to like about her. Looking at the points she has the biggest lead when compared to the next position down, a lead of 557 point over Airi. I guess they wouldn't just pair up anyone with Nacchi for a single release.
2. Suzuki Airi (4216)
Again like Risako I was curious to see whether Airi would fall into the same trouble as Koharu, being pushed too much by UFA and as a result creating a dislike for her. But it looks like that although Airi certainly has a collection of fans that wouldn't mind seeing less of her and allowing some of the other members come through and share some of that attention it hasn't had an adverse effect on her popularity. Lol, perhaps it's just me and Koharu isn't as fantastic as I think she is? Much like Momo and Miyabi I think a helping factor in her position here is her appearance within Buono!
3. Umeda Erika (3820)
4. Hagiwara Mai (3576)
5. Okai Chisato (3443)
6. Nakajima Saki (3172)
7. Arihara Kanna (3040)
The results are certainly interesting and in the cases of Berryz and C-ute the members focused on the most throughout PVs, PB releases and Special Edition DVDs are certainly the favourite of the fans. The results for both are also fairly balanced there's obviously a favouratism to certain members, but there are no massive fall in points like Morning Musume.
Again, thanks to everyone who took part and I'll try to not only to update this post but add another post looking more into the individual country results.

31 CommentsFirst off I have to admit to being fairly lazy with the blog the past few weeks, there's a number of posts I want to make and I just haven't got around to doing them, fingers crossed I'll do them soom and they weren't turn out like my posts for
Maki's and
Ayaya's albums and never ever surface. I still need to post properly about the items I bought in January as some of them I really want to write about,
Morning Musume's Alo Hello PB,
Pucchi Best 2 and probably the most urgent one to be posted up is the issue of
Up to Boy purchased as I'm sure the next issue has to be out soon, if it's not already out. Last week I got my copies of
Buono!'s second single and
Ongaku Gatas's first album and I love both of them, the packaging for each is amazing, and no doubt over the next few days I'll have
Cafe Buono,
Seishun! Love Lunch and
Morning Musume's Concert Tour 2007 Aki Bon Kyu! Bon Kyu! Bomb DVD.
So although the clip has been up on
:::Dohhh Up!::: for some time and the book has been out for a week, but a
Charmy PB release is always worth mentioning. Esepcially when a Special Edition Making of DVD is being released by E-LineUP, it's good to see that at last these Special Edition DVDs are breaking away from the recent H!P Kids PB releases and onto the other members, personally I was hoping that either Sayu or Reina would be getting one with their recent books. The Special Edition can be ordered from
E-LineUP and is available up until the 14th May.
Oddly, I've still to get myself any of Charmy's PB releases, this is odd because of one simple thing...how amazing does she always look? I would of thought that I would of at least own a copy of hers and
Sayumi's joint PB,
Angels, but no I don't even have a copy of that. Although all the girls within H!P are pleasing to the eye, for me there's three members that have the perfect look and with a total of (I think) 21 solo PB releases between them it's amazes me that I only own two, and even more amazingly one of them hasn't had a PB release in nearly three years!
Ayaya,
Nacchi and Charmy in my opinion are the most visually appealing members. I own two of Nacchi's PB releases, her second PB
Natsumi and her most recent
Cam On, but now that it's clicked in my head that we've been missing out on a Ayaya PB release for such a long time, I really reaaly want to see one come out, I know I've been saying lately that H!P need to give Erika a PB release, but she's now been knocked down to second place in members that I want to see get one, with Ayaya taking first place, it's about time she got her 3rd Alo Hello release isn't it, perhaps even another joint book with
Mikitty now that she's back?

29 CommentsMy wallet doesn't like me at the best of times and after receiving an email from Ohta it's going to be on the war path. Ohta has not only setup an email magazine letting you know all the latest H!P merchandise he can get (which you can subscribe to
here) but he's also set up a website called
Hello!Project Goods Shop, with links to the Official Online Stores and Concert Goods which will enable you to browse through the merchandise and then mail him and order it. Costs are all on there, so you can work out how much you'll spending before hand. I'm going to be broke I just know it!
What I find particularly exciting is the
Photobook On Demand link as I was literally looking at the
Hello!Project Winter 2008 Concert Solo Photobooks last night and wishing that I could one or possibly even two, with Kohachan and Nakki being the lucky girls I've chosen. I've even sat down and planned out the photos I'm after and the order I want them in, there really is something about not just choosing the photos you want it to feature but the order you want them in. I'm hoping if I mail Ohta he'll be able to order them for me. Everyone looks amazing, but for me Nakki and Koha have the stand out photos, I've included a couple of my favourites below.

Also in Ohta's email he sent me an image to the
Sweet Valentine 2008 set that he ordered for me awhile back, I was trying desperately to get one of these last year, but by the time I realised that they were out to order they were all sold out and only available on Yahoo Auctions, if I remember rightly they were going for a stupid amount of money, luckily this time around I just managed to order it in time. The one thing I haven't decided with this is if I will actually be eating the chocolate? It sounds really stupid I know but I want to keep it all together and not spoil it...but then I'm desperate to taste what H!P chocolate tastes like!

91 CommentsA recent post on
MorningBerryz blog about some
Hello! Project Italian Parsley! I found whilst out in Tokyo last month, this is truly the most oddest piece of merchandise that I have ever seen, but it made me think about a leaflet that I found in my
Pucchi Best 2 CD case. Up until recently I've had some problems with my scanner and haven't had a chance to scan it in, but now that it's all sorted I've scanned it in. The wonder of the
Mini Moni Toaster, this little beauty will not only toast your bread for you but it will also burn a nice little Mini Moni face into your bread for added cuteness.
The wonderful merchandise that H!P has produced through the years is astonishing and bizarrely varied. I'd imagine that somewhere out there is a set of Mini Moni children's chop sticks or spoon and fork combo, there has to be! All you'd need to do is find a Morning Musume plate (from the
Sweet Morning Box 2003) get yourself and egg scramble it with a touch of Kamei Parsley and pour yourself a glass of fresh orange in your
favourites members glass you've got an amazingly tasty H!P Breakfast! It's not just the breakfast table that H!P has invaded, you can also kit out your car with H!P related goods,
Melon Kinenbi Windshild Wiper Covers and a nice
back window car sticker and air fragrance of your H!P favourite member.
I'm always impressed by the amount of goods that H!P releases and with how odd some of them are, H!P really need to release a catalogue of all of the items they've released, I'd imagine it would be an amazing read.

One thing you need to get the ultimate H!P household and car is cash and that's one thing I'm always lacking in unfortunately, so the only sensible and responsible way of getting a boost of finances is to gamble...obviously! So I've bought £5 worth of lottery tickets and for added luck the numbers choosen are all H!P related.

34 CommentsSo we're half way through the voting for the
Morning Musume, Berryz Koubou, ºC-ute Polls and I can't thank everybody enough, at the moment the amount of people that have voted is almost double that of the last vote,
Morning Musume Poll Results. At the moment Japanese votes are still low, lower than the 43 votes of the last one but I'm hoping with a week to go I can try and increase that.
I'm dying to see the results but I've managed to keep my curiosity under control and I've only develed into the user side of the database staying well clear of votes, I want it to be as much as a surprise as possible. But to help ease my curiosity I've been checking out the votes posted up on other blogs and if like me you want a little sneak peak into how everybody else has voted check out the links below. If you've posted your results up and I haven't included them, please post a link as I'd love to take a look.
What I find really interesting with the votes that I've seen is how highly ranked both Linlin and Junjun are, Junjun seems to be the favourite out of the pair and ranks quite highly, in a number of occasions in the 1st position, I remember when they first joined I was a little unsure about them, but it certainly looks like they could rank quite highly overall.
But remeber if you haven't voted yet it's not too late, all votes will be collected next Monday the 27th.

39 CommentsI've been dreading this single release for a long time and finally it's here. Why have I been dreading it? Because it's a cover. Well that in itself isn't a bad thing, but it's a cover of a
Eurovision entry from Germany! Ok, so I'm not bothered about the German bit, the bit that bothers me is that the song was originally a Eurovision entry.
For those of you lucky enough not to live within Europe and may not know what Eurovision is (I'm really hoping that this show doesn't get broadcast anywhere else, what must people think of us Europeans and our musical tastes if this is something to base it on) let me explain a little, every year a contest is held where each member country enters a song (selected by votes from the public) and these songs are then voted on by the other countries to determine the best one. As I'm typing this I'm reading over it and it's sounding like a great idea, but in practice it's awful, mainly because of the songs entered, the likes of ABBA, Lulu and Celine Dion may have gotten famous after entering the competition, but that in no way makes them good. I'm not denying that it's a fun watch, every year it's been on you'll find me sitting in front of a TV, watching with some drinks and texting my friends on what I thought of the songs, but it's all very tongue in cheek and most of the time the songs don't take themselves too seriously, which is what I was really worrying about with this release. Obviously the entries from other countries appeal to me more than the UK entries as, one the UK entries are always awful, in 2003 we had the pleasures of receiving NIL points and in more recent years we've done almost as bad, and two, the songs are probably just as bad but it's one time only event I don't have to listen to them played over and over again on the radio, unlike the UK releases. So the quirkier the song and the stranger the singer the better, snort your tea through your nose as the weird short fat man with a strange hat sings his song, enjoy it and then never hear it again. So the prospect of listening to a 70's German Eurovision entry was not something I want to hear
Berryz do, have they no self respect? This is a song where centre stage there's a man dressed like Ming the Merciless! Although I would have paid good money to see one of Berryz wear a stick on beard and moustache and do that dance. But, anyway, here's the original, enjoy.
So you're probably all as scared me right about not, right? At what point did Tsunku or whoever came up with this crazy idea think that it could possibly good? What did they say to persuade everybody that this should be done?...Well whoever it was and whatever they said was pure genius! Seriously give this guy or girl a promotion, add a little extra to their wages, do something, because this is a work of pure perfection! The PV is without question my favourite by Berryz, it's so bright and lively, and the whole feel of really suits the song. But what I especially like about this PV is how good the girls looks in it, my one reservation about Berryz is how odd the girls can look at times, but in this PV everyone looks amazing and there's more of an equal share of focus on each member than in the last PV. Usually when watching there PVs my mind goes into hypnotic
Risako trance, with the occasional "how freaky does
Momo look?" thrown in there, but this release I'm really appreciating everyone in the group. Momo looks amazing, as good as she does in the recent
Buono! PVs, she's just as lively, her little peace sign wiggle looks amazing. Risako with her big glasses and pink megaphone are just as eye catching as usual. But for a change the two members that really stand out to me in this PV are
Saki and
Chinami. Both look completely amazing. Saki with her Aviator glasses and electric guitar piano (do these things have a proper name?) and Chinami looking...like a girl, not that she doesn't normally look like a girl, but her image is usually rather tomboyesque, but here that image is gone and I really hope it stays that way, she looks amazing.
For me this PV also has the instant 'love it' factor as it features both Momo and Saki pretend playing guitars (ok, Saki's is a piano guitar but it still counts) and it really seems that Momo has perfected the art of pretend playing the guitar with the help of Buono! I can only hope that one day Koha will join forces with Momo to produce an enitre PV with them just playing guitar with random objects.
The song is amazing and surprisingly really suits Berryz, it's fun and lively and a complete shocker to me, I hate the fact that I now like a Eurovision song release, but what I can do, it's amazing release. Interestingly this isn't the first cover of
Dschinghis Khan, as a German Heavy Metal group,
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, also done a cover way back in 1998, and I couldn't help having a hunt around and uploading their cover as well, I've included it below along with the Berryz version just so you can compare. As far as I know, never has there been such a great comparison of a song, from the strange Eurovision entry, to the cutesie version of Berryz and then on to the roaring version by Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, this is a song that has had a couple of reincarnations in very different forms. This song has really helped Berryz fight back (at least for me) from the amazement of
C-ute's Tokaikko Junjou single.

25 CommentsThe PV for
Melon Kinenbi new single
Charisma Kirei is up on
:::Dohhh Up!::: and I'm currently in two minds as to whether I like it or not. The song itself is very enjoyable and certainly my favourite of their recent single releases. But the song aside it's the PV everybody seems to be talking about and unlike the PV for
Onegai Miwaku no Target it's not because of the originality or pure craziness of it, it's for the total opposite reasons, the shear laziness and cheapness of it. If you haven't watched the PV already it's basically a bunch of live performances of the track cut up together with some spinning flower type things occasionally appearing on the screen, whilst I'll admit it's not the most inventive or budget breaking PV I've ever seen I prefer it over Onegai Miwaku no Target any day. First off the girls actually feature in it, which in my books is a big plus point, although the previous PV was certainly interesting and original, it's not a PV I go back to watch ever, it was entertaining for awhile but I soon started to miss the girls, seriously the Melon Kinenbi girls are amazing to look at, why exclude them? And secondly although this is just a bunch of live performances stuck together to make a video it's not that bad, personally I love their live performances and this PV only goes to remind me that I don't have enough of their concerts on DVD. Although I doubt I'll be buying the single, watching this has prompted me to put my order in for the mini album it features on and their
Fruity Killer Tune DVD.

178 CommentsIt's been over 8 months since I posted my
Morning Musume poll (
Morning Musume Poll Results), I still can't get over how many people took part in this, thanks everyone!
After a discussion on MorningBerryz blog awhile ago I decided to start writing a new poll, the aim of which was to find the cutest member within H!P, considering this was to feature all of the current members of H!P I decided that it would probably be best to extend this to not only include Cutest, but Sexiest and the opportunity to order the entire H!P members into a list of favourites. Unfortunately this has taken much longer than I had originally thought, coding whys it's ok, but it's more how to display the results and getting images of everyone within the current line up. So whilst I work my through the things left to do I decided that it would be a good idea to bring back the Morning Musume poll. This time around I'd like to try and collect a little bit more information and try and see a little bit more into the Western H!P fan, so as well the poll I've included the options of age and sex, both of these are optional but if you feel like enter these it would be really appreciated, it would be great to see the age ranges that H!P spans. I've also included the opportunity to poll Berryz and C-ute as well. Personally, since posting the original poll I've really gotten into both Berryz and C-ute. The results I'm really looking forward to seeing is C-ute's, as I'd imagine the results are going to be very evenly spread, I imagine that it's going to be quite tight.
I'm hoping that this will be as successful as the last one and thank everyone in advance for taking part. I'll keep the poll open for 2 weeks, it will end on the 24th of February and I'll try to get the results by 27th.
Click Here to VoteI've just submitted my vote and I'm going to try and explain a little as to why I've ordered them as I have, I'll try to keep each as short as possible.
1. Koharu Kusumi Koharu remains my favourite member of the group and she shows no sign of budging, the more I see of her the more I love her, I've yet to find fault in her. When I look back on my favourite members within H!P it seems inevitable that Koharu would be my favourite, I seem to have a thing for cute looking girls with an equally cute personality and she fits that description perfectly. Aside from these reason, I think another reason why I rate so highly is because she was the first member that I had seen enter the group and watch her progress, this in itself was something that I hadn't experienced before.
2. Michishige Sayumi Now although Koharu is cute, I'd like to think that she learnt it all from Sayu ;p Seriously, Sayumi can be amazingly cute and although she's not the greatest singer within the group, I personally love her voice, when she teamed up with Koharu on the last couple of albums and concert appearances I was so happy, together Sayu and Koha are an unstoppable team, at least in my eyes, perhaps one day we'll see them both join up for a single release, who knows perhaps a duet for a Kirarin Revolution single?? I'd die happy if that was to happen.
3. Niigaki Risa Gaki, has really impressed me lately and this is clearly shown with her jumping up two positions into my 3rd favourite member. Gaki has always been a member that generally I've always not paid that much attention to when it came to PVs and concerts, but much like Reina I think she is extremely photogenic and I've managed to collect all of her PB releases. But it wasn't until I purchased her
Alo-Hello! release in the middle of last year that I realised on what I was missing out on. Her personality and whole attitude is one that just leaves me with a smile on my face, but that said my favourite feature of hers is her smile, it's so contagious! All she has to is smile and I'll be beaming for ages, seeing her smile just puts me in the best mood, so you can imagine how I was feeling after her Alo-Hello DVD.
4. Kamei Eri Kamei has remained in the same position as when I last done this and I feel a little bad, she is such an amazingly funny and cute member of Morning Musume. It was actually quite tough deciding who should come 3rd and 4th as I like both Kamei and Gakisan about the same, but it was Gaki's smile that helped her be pushed up to 3rd place. The thing that really appeals to me about Kamei is her ditsy nature and her amazingly strange drawing skills, she is another member that always makes me smile, especially when looking back on the Hello Morning episodes with her Mikitty, not only did she looks really cute, but the mix of both their personality's made for a great pairing.
5. Mitsui Aika Mittsi's position in this is a real surprise to me...I didn't realise I liked her this much, lol, I was expecting her to come lower than this. Her appearance in
Athena & Robikerottsu has really helped her climb within my favourites, how cute is she in the PVs for this unit!? Then there's the totally unexpectedness of how good she looked in a bikini, I was in shock after watching the Alo-Hello! 2 DVD and was left in total amazement as to why she didn't get a PB release last year.
6. Tanaka ReinaAs Gakisan jumps up Reina falls from a previous 3rd to 7th, interestingly though this all down to her PB releases and more specifically her last PB release. It's hard to explain as I think that Reina has to be the most photogenic out of all the members, simply put she always looks amazing and is able to pull off any style, but with her last PB I wasn't as impressed as I have been with the others, I can't put my finger on what it was I didn't like about the book but there was something, perhaps how often her releases are coming out, is it possible to have too much of a good thing?
7. Takahashi AiAichan, for some reason never features higly within my rankings, even though her voice is so amazing and she looks just as amazing in all of her PB releases.
8 - 9. Linlin and JunjunOK, I feel really bad for grouping them together whilst everyone else has their only little pieces, but although I've taken a liking to both Linlin and Junjun it's not one that's having an impact on me. I put this down to the fact that recently I've been really busy and haven't had a proper chance to sit down and watch an episode of HaroMoni (it's been 2 months since I've had a chance to watch a full episode, lol, my hard drive is getting with unwatched episodes) and get a real feel for them. From now on I'm going to make more of an effort to not only watch the HaroMoni episodes, but to take an active interest in both Linlin and Junjun.
1. Sugaya RisakoEven when I wasn't that big a fan of Berryz Risako always stood out, she's not only amazingly cute but she's also extremely attractive for her age, if she looks this good at 13 how is she going to look in another 5 years? Aside from looks Risako has to be the member I most look forward to seeing in the live performances, she always gives it her all and I really love her dancing and after seeing her perform Robokiss with Sayumi, she's firmly rooted as my favourite Berry.
2. Tsugunaga MomokoFor a long time Momo was the member within Berryz that I loved to hate. She really didn't appeal to me, I wasn't keen on her voice and she always seemed to look a little strange. And then Buono! formed. Admittedly I still find her appearance within the Berryz PVs slightly odd, but in Buono! I've really begun to see her appeal, she has such a wacky personality and her odd look seems to have disappeared within their PVs to a really cute and non-awkward looking. And she can play air guitar like some sort of crazy god!
3. Natsuyaki MiyabiAfter Risako caught my eye within Berryz Miyabi was the next. She's also a consistent member within Berryz when it comes to both singing and live performances and she never fails to capture my interest.
4. Kumai YurinaSo tall!! Gargantuous, but in a great way!
5. Shimizu Saki'Captain!' This is a great nickname to have, out of all the nicknames within H!P hers has to be the best, why has she never came out during a live performance smoking a pipe and with a beard and an eye patch on?? I feel that she should get more attention in the PVs then she does at the moment, although her singing voice I don't think is the best she certainly deserves more attention than she's currently getting.
6 - 7. Tokunaga Chinami and Sudou Maasa Although I've come to like Berryz a hell of a lot more than I used to I still find it hard feeling for some of the members, if I'm totally honest, the unit for me is a three girl group. Obviously each member is an integral part of Berryz and I would hate to see any of them leave, I just find it hard to take as much as a liking to the members as I do with any other unit and this is the problem I have with Chinami and Sudou. Again I think the problem is much the same as to why both Linlin and Junjun rank so low in the Morning Musume rankings, I don't go out of my way to watch their performances, again I'm going to try my best and push myself into taking an interest into members I don't normally pay that much attention to.
1. Umeda ErikaA stand out member within C-ute and in my opinion extremly under used. She has the looks, but as of yet has no PB release, or as far as I know no plans for a PB release. She has a great voice, but doesn't get featured enough in the releases (but this can be said about most members within C-ute). She can at times come across a little shy (or nervous I'm not to sure which one it is exactly), but this is a really great personality trait to have when in a group like this. Then there's her outfit in the recent Tokaikko Junjou, such great legs! I really hope that she's made use of more this year.
2. Hagiwara MaiMaimai, is potentially the cutest member within H!P, she's just so adorable. Then there's her potential, when I look at her performing I'm just blown away she has such a great voice. Both tracks she done with Koharu were amazing and really showcased her voice, I hope at some point we have another release from KiraPika. I can't help but think that in years to come she's going to have an amazing solo career, given time I think she has the potential to be as good as Ayaya.
3. Nakajima SakiWith a smile to rival that of Gaki's. Her performances in both C-ute and Athena & Robikerottsu have really impressed me. But it's in the releases for Athena & Robikerottsu that her appeal has really grown on me, until I heard these releases I hadn't paid her that much attention, but she has a great singing voice and is really cute.
4. Yajima MaimiWhat's not to like about Maimi? As a leader of C-ute I think she does a great job, she's certainly someone for the girls to look up to, with her PB releases and song with Nacchi, it's clear to see has the potential to become an outstanding member within H!P. She's also an amazing dancer, certainly the best within C-ute.
5. Okai ChisatoAnother great singer who is underused, it seems to be a trait within C-ute, but at least she's getting more attention through Athena & Robikerottsu. I can't wait until she gets her next image change, I'd really like to see her with longer hair.
6. Arihara KannaKannachan, has a really cute image, her looks really fit into the group nicely. I'm hoping, much like Erika, we start to see more of her in the coming year.
7. Suzuki AiriAlthough she seems to be one of the most popular members of C-ute (she's certainly one of the most featured members) she has to be my least favourite. At times I wish she had less lines and the other members of unit had more. Another reason for her low ranking was the scans I saw of her PB, I wasn't that impressed with them, certainly not impressed enough to warrant her having second PB coming out before some of the other members get their first one. But there's no denying she has a great voice and she really shines in Buono!
Time for sleep now...less than 4 hours before I have to get up :(

17 CommentsOhta has an amazing amount of
Ongakue Gatas merchandise in his
store available for pre-order. I've never seen so much from just one particular tour. There are shirts, keyrings, group photos, individuals photos, a concert DVD magazine, a towel and a concert photo binder. The shirt design is done to imitate a football (or if you're American 'soccer' ;p) shirts, on the backs is the name and position number of each member, whilst on the front we have on the right breast Ongaku Gatas accompanied with an image of a football, the keyring also copies this design. I'm a little disappointed with this design, to me the front could have been a lot better, I'm really not keen on the image of the football on the front it looks too simple, they could have used the
Gatas Brilhantes logo, it would have looked a lot better, but that aside I think I'll definetely be getting Manoeri one, the accompanying photos are just so cute!
After attending the concert last month, the towels take on a new image to me, as they are more than just towels, they're also head scarves, lol, it was quite amusing to see everyone standing around with these tied around their heads.

23 CommentsSo for a few days now
C-ute's soon to be released single
Lalala Shiawase no Uta has been up on
:::Dohhh Up!::: for awhile now. It seems to be getting some mixed reactions, personally I like it, but then I'm hooked on C-ute at the moment and I'm guaranteed to like it no matter what it sounded like, although I do think that that's a little unfair as I do genuinely like the song.
Comparatively it's completely different from the mature sound of
Tokaikko Junjou and I can understand why some people may have reservations about this song and although I loved the last release, the song, the PV and the outfits were all amazing and really helped thrust the girls up the H!P ranks even further and would dearly love to see more releases of this more mature sound, but I'd like to think that they'd slowly progress onto this sound rather than just jumping in, plus it makes Tokaikko Junjou even more special knowing that it's a unique sounding song.
Lalala Shiawase no Uta in style is very similar to the first two major singles released, both in sound and look of the PV, I love the outfits in this release, and they look great swaying around when the girls are dancing and jumping, they look a little similar to those worn in
Sakura Chirari.
The song itself is really catchy and you're guaranteed that it will be lingering in your head for days to come. I'm really annoyed that my phone doesn't have a camera on it, as the day I first watched this PV I was doing some work with Chris, as I usually do when he's around and there's a new PV up I called him over to watch it (I will convert him, one day he will see the way!), he gave the usual moans then went away, ten minutes later I turn around and he's sitting in his chair singing 'Lalalalalalalalala' whilst copying the arm movements they do in the PV, as the night progressed he got more and more confident and he did it as he wandered around the room, I would have loved to have grabbed that on my camera and upload. So has this converted him? I wouldn't imagine so, but it shows how damn catchy it is!

21 CommentsIt's been awhile since my return from my trip to Tokyo at the start of January, I know of done a couple of posts showing peeks into what I purchased whilst I was out there; the Aibon History Book, some Concert goods and a selection of photos. But I thought tonight I'd try and group everything together in one big post, so this evening I've sat down grabbed all the H!P items I purchased whilst out there. This post isn't going to cover any of the items in any great detail, hopefully in the coming weeks when I get a chance to sit down, listen/watch them all in full I'll come back to them in detail, but for the minute I want to try and keep it short...lol, plus I'm really tired.
Having attempted to save on some cash over December I missed out on a couple of releases and these were my main items that I wanted to get whilst out there, going into HMV or Tower Records and picking up a copy of the single/album you're after and paying at the till is something I haven't experienced in a long time and one that I really enjoyed, it certainly beats getting an email to say you're item's been shipped and then spending a couple of days sitting down and waiting.
I was really hoping that whilst out there I would be able to get a copy of Sayumi's latest photobook, but to my surprise I couldn't find a single copy of it anywhere, I have however managed to get a copy through YesAsia, but it's expecting to be shipped in another 21 days! I hope I can wait that long ;p I was however able to get a copy of, what is in my opinion the best H!P PB release ever,
Morning Musume Alo Hello! Hawaiian. This book has in my opinion the best photos of Sayumi and Reina that I've ever seen and I've long been after an actual copy rather than the images saved on my PC, it also features shots of both Nono and Aibon in bikinis :)
I also managed to find a deck of Makocchan playing cards, which are quite and odd set, on buying them I originally thought that they weren't an official release but on further investigation it looks like that they were made available through an offer at
Bowlsballs, which looks to be a restaurant which seems to (on occasion) offer H!P merchandise.
Photos are the thing that I really got hooked on whilst out there, when ever I was in an area that either had an Official store or a reseller store I was unable to walk away without buying some, I even managed to get myself a folder to put them all in, who would of thought out of the H!P items that I regret not buying whilst out there the item I regret not buying the most, was some more photo holder sleeves, I've just run out. I have more photos to put in it and the only sleeves I've been able to find are a completely different size to the ones I have...it makes it all look messy.

21 CommentsBefore I start talking about the preview clip of the DVD for
Risako's third PB I want to talk a little about the releases of these books in general, as it seems to me that lately PB releases are becoming more and more frequent, just from
Morning Musume,
Berryz Koubou and
C-ute last year we had 18 releases, and certainly looking into this new year there doesn't seem to be any slow down with these releases, with only just got into February and with already had one release, with another three being planned for later on this month. A few days ago we had the release of
Maimi's second photobook release,
Sou Sola, in four days time
Risako releases her third,
Ring3 ~Rin Rin Rin!~ and then towards the end of the month we can look forward to
Charmy's eigth solo PB and Reina's sixth.
If we just look at Morning Musume, Berryz and C-ute releases from last year, out of the 25 members in total between the groups (including both
Yossie and
Mikitty) only 12 members had a PB release.
Sayumi being the heavy weight in the PB department last year with a total of three releases under her belt,
Aichan,
Kamei,
Reina and
Airi each with two release and
Gaki,
Koha,
Momo,
Miyabi,
Risako,
Yurina,
Maimi and
Airi each with one release.
For the most part Morning Musume's spread of photobook releases is fairly even, out of the 11 members that were within the group last year, 6 of them had releases and with the majority of members not to have a release either joining or leaving the group in 2007, I can perhaps understand why not everyone got one. Although I think the spread of these releases is fair, I think there was a couple of releases that should have appeared, with Yossie's new image and the fact that she looked amazingly hot, this should have been release that definitely should have come out, personally I was dying for Yossie
Alo! Hello release. Whilst on the subject on Alo! Hello release, what the hell happened to Gaki's Alo! Hello PB? Her DVD release made me fall in love with her, her smile, looks and personality won me completely over and was something that I had somehow managed to ignore before seeing this, so I was majorly disappointed that there was no accompanying book. Last but no means least, in my personal opinion I think this was perhaps the biggest crime of all, there was no
Mittsi PB release, serioulsy why?!
Although, Risako is getting her 3rd PB release, it's been good to see that some of the other members of the unit have received releases during last year. For me the most interesting of these releases has to be Momo's. When I first of this release I was not overly excited by it, at the time she was a member within Berryz that I loved to hate, but ever since the formation of
Buono! she's grown on me in leaps and bounds and although she looked a little odd in some of the scans I've seen from her release it's one that I really want to get a copy of. With the New Year well under way it'll be good to see the three remaining members of Berryz receive their first PBs, I only hope that UFA aren't going to be sticking to a pattern, although I wouldn't complain if we saw Momo get a 2nd release some time soon.
In my eyes C-ute is the unit that is most under looked when it comes to PB releases, with both Airi and Maimi having 2 releases before any of the other members get a look in. In my
Erika should have a had a book by now and I'm really disappointed that she hasn't, the minute she does I'll be pre-ordering my copy without any hesitation. When I look through the members of C-ute I just see great potential for photobook releases and can't believe that it's just going untapped, well I'd say give Maimai a few more years before we see her first one, but why hasn't everyone else got one yet? With Nakki's amazing smile and amazing cute looks we're missing out on some great things.
With the more regular releases of these PBs and what seems to the regular pattern of the members appearing in these I wonder what the reasoning behind all of this. Obviously there's one major reason behind this and it's the same with any business, money, and obviously if it's known that certain members within certain units get high selling figures then the obvious choice for releases are these members, it's guaranteed money, but at what expense? With pushing other members aside they're making money in the short term but how is this going to affect long term sales? If other members are left aside are they going to become less popular? Are fans going to get fed up with the same members getting releases all the time?
With the sales falling on the music releases, could this increase in releases perhaps suggest that this is where H!P are making the majority of their money?
I really hope that this year we some new members getting some decent PBs and I vote we start with C-ute, give Erika a PB release!!!!
Hmmm, did I say a little...sorry. Anyway, Risako has her 3rd solo PB coming out on the 6th of February and I'm hoping that I can start my collection of her works with this one. As well as the book release there is also a Limited Special Edition Making of DVD for this release, this can be found at
e-LineUp!, although it's not availble to be pre-ordered until the book goes on sale, so if you're after a copy you'll have to wait until the 6th and even then you'll have to wait until the 31st of March for it to be delivered...such a long wait and very hard on us fans, I remember when I got my copy of Kohachan's version for POP it felt like forever, but was ultimately well worth the wait.
