Ex-Morning Musume Member Making A Surprise Guest Appearance

Thursday, 24th June 2010 12:35 | 166 Comments

It's been announced over on SOUNDLICIOUS's Facebook page that there will be a surprise guest present at the Morning Musume concert at the Japan-Expo. The message itself translates to;

"A surprise guest will be present at the concert of Morning Musume. Prepare for the best!"

Although it doesn't give any other hint as to who this might be, I've been told that it is a ex-Morning Musume member!
As to which ex member this will be, we've yet to find out, but that's not going to stop us guessing. Last year at LA's Anime Expo, we were treated to a surprised appearance (and signing) from Hangry & Angry member, Yossie and because of this and that both Yossie and Rika were only over her a few weeks ago, Yossie (and Rika) won't be the surprise guest. For me the most logical choice would be Koha.
She's recently graduated and she's staring within a new unit Ex-Ceed with both Linlin and Junjun. But quite possibly the tell tale sign is that the author of Kirarin Revolution will be attending the Expo as a guest and they're will be a Kirarin Revolution Karaoke Contest.

I could be wrong and it'd be great to hear everyones views on who they think it will be, but for me all signs point to Koha, it might be worth me bringing that Koha photo along incase there's a surprise autograph session to XD

Maimi Gets An Android App

Wednesday, 23rd June 2010 15:34 | 54 Comments

Awhile back those of us with an iPhone or iTouch were lucky enough to have a few Apps developed by Up Front Works; Koahru's Sugar Doll+ (Vol.1) and Mana Ogawa's iSocks. But with Apple going a bit overkill with their removing sexually explicit apps, they both disapeared. Luckily, I managed to download and install them both before they vanished but unfortunatly it means that we're unlikely to see any more of these Apps appearing. However for those of you with an Android phone, it's your lucky day as it's been announced that Maimi will be getting two Photo App releases, the first on the 23rd of June and the second on the 30th of June.
Previews from both these Apps can be seen below.

Maimi Android PB App

Personally I think it's a shame that there doesn't appear to be any more Apps coming out on the iPhone, I can understand that having what they had put up pulled being a bit of a deterant but that shouldn't stop them especially when you consider that their are a number of other idol based Apps available. AKB have released a number of Apps, with them even managing to keep up their Itano Tomomi PB release, but they've expanded to include Apps that (I presume) play back the radio segments that they do for All Night Nippon.

AKB iPhone Apps

But it's looking outside of JPop and into the realm of KPop that I think we can begin to see the full potential of Apps not only on the iPhone but for Android and in general. Sure, a PB release of a radio segment App are all well and good and if H!P was releasing them I'd certainly be buying them, but I do have a complaint with them, a complaint that I actually left on my review of Koha's Sugar Doll+ App, you don't really get much for your money, a collection of offshot photos and perhaps a short video, sure it's only a couple of pound, but when you see what avaiable for a couple of pound more it does make you wonder.

With prices ranging from Free to around £5 the Apps available from groups such as SNSD, f(x) and 4MINUTE offer a hell of a lot more and would get me back into the whole buying multiple versions of the singles if Hello!Project were to start releasing Apps similar to these for single releases.
Below I've included some screenshots of the Apps just to show you the amount of effort and though gone into them, we don't just have an App of photos we have a full product, we have an extension to the Album/Single/Mini Album that they are promoting/selling. With features including; full (and previews on 'Lite' versions) music tracks, image galleries, groups bios along with full MVs and promo videos, it's easy to see why I've not only bought the CD versions but also the iPhone versions as well.

If only UFA weren't so lazy/proud (which ever one is stopping them from developing for iPhone) and they were to take note of what is produced by other artists, they could not only take full advantage of this, but they could make me start feeling that they actually cared again, gone are the days of decent Morning Musume single releases, now we're lumbered with releases with numerous versions of fairly poor PVs, no posters, no little PBs and no cardboard cases, but a release like those shown below would get my interest back up in single releases... I can only hope that sometime soon Up Front Works picks up on this and start taking advantage of it, damn it, I want to give them my money XD

Rachels's Thoughts on Hangry & Angry in Paris

Friday, 18th June 2010 00:24 | 14 Comments

The best thing about the US and European Hello! Project events that have taken place, possibly more so than the performances themselves is the people you meet. Most of the time I spent hanging out with Aqua as we were attending all of the same event, for two of these (London and Paris) her cousing Rachel came along. The great thing about Rachel (aside from being alcoholic Aussie :P) is that she wasn't a fan of the group, but seemed to not only be open to attending the conerts and actually seemed to really enjoy them.

Along with Chris, I've asked her to do a little right up to see her take on the concerts, below she write's about the Paris gig, I'm kinda hoping that Rachel's not referring to me when she talks about the "fat guy with B.O", haha.
Over the weekend I should hopefully have Chris's post about the London gig, be prepared ;)

Hello! I am a 17 year old Aussie girl who had never even listened to J-Pop music until my arrival in the UK. So walking up a huge hill in Paris, arriving at the Hangry and Angry venue at 10.30am in the cold wasn't really my idea of a good time. I wondered why the hell everyone was here so early. I have never met any group of people so dedicated and obsessed with musicians in my life. I mean I've had my phases but gee, these guys are crazy. 9 hours, 3 beers down and several complaints (by me) later the doors FINALLY open. Everyone rushes through the big wooden doors in a hallway. Holy Crap! So now I'm cramped against a fat guy with B.O and a wooden bench hitting my head. As you can tell I wasn't very excited at this point, but after the doors to the actual club open and my bag is raped by security men I step inside the hall. There was an atmosphere that I have never felt before in the air, of pure excitement and just love for the act about to take the stage.
A video began to play on stage. For a person who knows nothing about Hangry and Angry, this proved to be very helpful as it gave me information about there history and where they have come from. Already my excitement began to grow as screams filled the air whenever there faces graced the screen. The lights dimed, I raised my glow sticks in the air and the beautiful and sexy duo hit the stage. I couldn't tell you the name of the first song, or any for that matter. But one things for sure is that they were definitely not hard to listen to or get into. At times I thought they were miming, as their vocals were almost too perfect. A few songs in even I was sweating, the energy was insane and I was loving every second. The music stopped as Yossie and Rika addressed the audience, I scream in true fan girl style. I was very impressed that they put in time to not only write a speech type thing but also speak most of it in French, even though I didn't understand it.
The rest of the concert went extremely quickly, which means it was awesome. Each song was catchy and well sung. I had a ball!
After the music, it was question and answer time from Hangry and Angry. Again I was very impressed that they put in the time and effort to organise something like this, as most acts play there set and leave. It made you feel like they really loved there fans and wanted to create a connection. The only down side to this was the organisation and of course the language barrier. It seemed that everyone got to ask his or her question but it was hard to hear. As there fans from all over the world, it was impossible for everyone to understand. But I guess we all got our turns at our home concert. They answered a lot of questions and then pulled names out of a hat for various photo opportunities and poster give always, which made me like them even more.
We headed out the venue and waited until they left the building. Overall I had a brilliant night and would defiantly see them again and recommend them to anyone even if they know nothing about them or who they are, its well worth it.

C No Evil's Idol World Cup 2010

Thursay, 10th June 2010 11:10 | 30 Comments

So with the FIFA World cup starting tomorrow, CDevil has decided to make things a bit more interesting by creating an Idol World Cup Fantasy League. Choose your idol team from those provided and let the fun begin. There's also a number of prizes being given away;

The Idol World Cup winner The Captain that has the country who wins the FIFA World Cup will also win the Idol World Cup. High tier Captains/Strikers are assigned countries most likely to win the FIFA World Cup, and vice versa for Low tier Captains/Strikers.

The Golden Boot The Golden Boot is rewarded to the team that scores the most goals throughout the tournament. This is calculated by adding the total goals scored by the Captain's country and the total goals scored by the Striker's country.

The Golden Gloves These are rewarded to the team that concedes the least amount of goals throughout the tournament. This is calculated by adding the total goals scored against the Captain's country and the total goals scored against the Striker's country. The team with the lowest total wins. When more than 1 team has the same winning total, the winner will be the team that has the highest goal difference (total goals scored minus total goals conceded).

The winner of each of the 3 awards above will get to choose 1 of the following (Idol World Cup winner gets first pick, then the Golden Boot winner, and finally the Golden Gloves winner):

PRIZES

-1 signed photocard of the current gen Morning Musume member of their choice.
-1 pair of signed Hangry & Angry photocards.
-1 photobook of their choice.

So, if you feel like taking part, head over to C No Evil and create your team!

I had originally gone for a team consisting of Mittsi as the Captain and Ayaya as the Striker, but unfortunatly for me before I could submit my team I fell asleep... And waking up this morning both girls had been put into a team :( So my team now consists of, Becki Cruel as Captain and Miki as Striker.
With the plans of having a full H!P team shattered... well not really, I just had the urge to have Becki Cruel XD I decided that the team would be best made up of a mix of some of my fave girls in the Idol world. In goal we have the lovely Aki Hoshino, in Midfield Sohee from the Wonder Girls and in Defense Sunny from SNSD. And the Team Anthem being Danjo (or whatever it's called), because it's just DAMN AWESOME AL'RIGHT?!!

Now, let's see if I can follow the World Cup more than I follow AKB XD

Whoops!

Thursday, 3rd June 2010 12:20 | 33 Comments

So chances are a few of you may have noticed that the site went down during last week, unfortunately the server experienced a little bit of a problem and had a hard disk failure. As sods law would have it, it happened mid way through the Hangry & Angry gigs so I literally only had a few hours to sit down and try to sort things... which ultimately didn't result in much.
But after a little panic of losing a years worth of posts I managed to find a backup that was pretty much spot on, the only thing missing from it was the birthday section of the database, hence why if you look at the top right you'll find a nice blank space where the scrolling birthdays used to be.
There also seems to be a problem with the displaying of the poll result images, but that appears to be a minor glitch in my PHP setup more than anything else as I have all the results still for all the polls. As soon as I get a free afternoon I'll sit down and fix these issues and everything should be back on track.

Expect some write ups over the coming days about the Hangry & Angry gigs from myself and hopefully a couple of guest writers... yes The Chris will be giving his views on the London gig that he attended and hopefully we'll have a write up of the Paris gig from drunken Aussie Rachel, who attended both the London and Paris gigs and signings after being roped along by Aqua ;) I'm looking forward to hearing some views from some non-fans.
